Zen, Brother D? Did you say Zen?

Yes indeed, it was a line from tron legacy "sam, you're messin' with my zen thing, man". I used it to convey that if I think too deeply about something, it confuses my understanding.

Yeah...I just like the way they taste.  ;D  Besides, when I order 'em they always come pre-stirred, so the light/dark thing isn't so obvious.  *shrug*

Me too. I can never get the pretty, layered cocktail like the picture, unless make it myself. I want to invest in an ice cube tray, but forget every time I visit the shop, so my caucasians are all liquid and go down way too easy. Thinking about it, maybe the ice is to stretch out drink supplies as well as keeping the drink cool?

ZoeAbides

As a former bartender (who went to school for it ages ago), I can tell you with professional certainty.  You can never have too much ice!  Unless you're drinking quality scotch.  Then one is enough.

When I can afford it, I like buying bags of ice for my cocktails.  They taste cleaner than tap water ice, and the different sizes has various benefits too.  It helps to measure.  The different speeds at which the different sizes melt keep it cold without going all watery.  With half and half it thins the cream down just enough.  And yes, it does stretch the drink out, insofar as making you sip it more slowly.

And I didn't mean to hijack here.  Just missing my Caucasians.

Brother D

Have one on me, dude. In fact, fuck it! Caucasians all round, bars over there! :-)

Nahhh, all of that ice in the glass is just wasting space that should be occupied by beverage;)

By now we have a sixth sense as to when we're beginning to smell. So we better make our point. We're here for one and only one reason, BikerDude's Photojournalist image from Apocalypse Now (1979).

BikerDude, we were blown away when a guy named Matt Bugui (pronounced Boo Guy) pointed out the Apocalypse Now/Big Lebowski homage. It really deepened our respect for the Zen Thesis. The very moment of this image you so love is when the Photojournalist is engaging in the monkey-mind wordplay: "Zap 'em with your siren, man. Zap 'em with your siren. [siren wailing] There's mines (minds) over there and mines (minds) over there, too. And watch out. Those monkeys bite you, I'll tell you. Ahh, that's a pretty one."

BikerDude, when the Photojournalist states, "I'm an American" (next to the grafitti, "our motto"), Milius & Coppola are referring to America's preoccupation with war (monkey-mind). It was only from decoding The Big Lebowski that we were able to decode the "Almighty" Code. Amazing, a horrific war film actually a film about peace (within the ruins of the Buddha).

ZoeAbides, read your Caucasian yin-yang. Impressive, Dude. Very impressive. You got the gift, but it looks like you're waiting for something. You're next life maybe, who knows.

Icon, is that you again?

Nope, not gettin' that.

Ahem. Point of order...

Believe it or not, the proper plural form of Shamus is "Shamuses".  Now there's a bit of information I would never have imagined I'd learn, and I'm guessing it'll be just as useless as that damned Oscar Mayer wiener jingle that's been taking up space in my brain since 1965.  :-\

Also, what does one call a grouping of Elvi?

It's a flight of birds, a bevy of doves, a murder of crows, a colony of ants, a flock of geese, and a pandemonium of parrots.

I propose a "Hunkahunka Elvi" or a "Bluesuede of Elvi."
