My fellow Dudes, I have a little Dude who's 2.  My special lady (colloquially, "wife") and I have been working on this for some time now and progress has been hit and miss.  He can go to the potty (training seat) by himself when we ask him to or put him on, but he rarely tries to go by himself.  He's leaked through his underwear onto the rug in the living room more than once (already did it this morning) and yesterday he was literally less than a foot away from his potty (he can sit down on it by himself since it's so low to the ground) when he let drip.

*sighs*  I'll admit I've been very undude a few times because of this.

I don't know if this is an issue of her doesn't know he needs to go until he's already letting loose our he just isn't trying or what.

Any of you other Mom or Dad Dudes out there have any ideas?

It's very tough.
We tried using rewards.
We put a chart up and if he went potty three times he'd get a toy.

At this point I'd say you just keep telling them they need to use the potty and they will get there when they do. When they are ready by my experience.
Don't get UnDude though.
That's not good. You shouldn't push IMO. It's ok to be disappointed.
Our youngest responded to his wanting to be "like the big boys".
That seemed to work. Far as pee'ing goes I let him watch his older brother pee (6 at that time). He took to that pretty easy. Although the thing that worked the best was letting them both pee on the bush in the yard. My wife was understandably not thrilled. But hey progress is progress.
Poo's were tougher. Not in the yard of course.

Out here we are all his children
