So I was thinking that Woodstock was an early pre-dudeism dude like gathering...........

I own the Woodstock film in a number of formats:

First Audio:

Vinyl (LP's both Woodstock and Woodstock 2 albums)

Then Video

Betamax (yes really)
VHS
DVD (Original and Ultimate Collectors Edition)

So it's nice to see you mention it here.

My favourite time traveling idea is that no-one from the sixties actually went to Woodstock it's just half a million time travellers. To this end I watch the film vey carefully looking for myself in any footage.

;D

There is a museum on the original site now. They have shows there every summer.

A "Behind the Music" documentary on the festival.

I've always thought of the West Coast thing as the center of Dudelyness personally. The Haight. Of course Woodstock takes a powerful place in the Dudely Canon.

We have to be honest it was originally planned as a huge money making proposition, and was just the victim of it's own very good publicity. Lets be realistic it may have turned into a massive free festival, it was never planned as one and only due to the massive over subscription and attendance did it become one.

I believe there were a lot of Dudeist people there, which is why it would be my destination come the advent of time travel, but lets not confuse it with an intentional meeting of Dudeists. Also let's remember it heralded the the peak and ultimate decline of the sixties "hippy" movement.

I would like to say many hippies were (are) Dudeist in nature, and point of view, not all Dudeists are hippies.
