The lies continue...

"One of the architects behind Obamacare admits that lying to the American people was key to to the Obama administration and Democratic party efforts to move that massive legislation through Congress for the President's ultimate signature into law."

Human paraquats! - Jonathan Gruber, one of the architects behind Obamacare, admits that lying to the American people was key to to the Obama administration and Democratic party efforts to move that massive legislation through Congress for the President's ultimate signature into law.

I think we need to Impeach Obama ASAP, and overturn and revoke ObamaCare immediately.

They used to call it "the big lie".
This is an ongoing drum beat and it's calculated.
It's like this new absurd move to confabulate Fascism and Liberalism.
It's a reaction to the very close resemblance that the right has with traditional fascism.
To associate liberalism with fascism flys in the face of every definition (and historical instance of) fascism.
The aspects common to Fascism.
Quote
The common elements of fascism ? extreme nationalism, social Darwinism, the leadership principle, elitism, anti-liberalism, anti-egalitarianism, anti-democracy, intolerance, glorification of war, the supremacy of the state and anti-intellectualism ? together form a rather loose doctrine. Fascism emphasises action rather than theory, and fascist theoretical writings are always weak. Hitler's Nazism had rather more theory, though its intellectual quality is appalling. This greater theoretical content is mostly concerned with race, and it was Hitler's racial theories that distinguished Nazism from Italian fascism.
Ian Adams, in Political Ideology Today (1993)

[Fascism is] a genuinely revolutionary, trans-class form of anti-liberal, and in the last analysis, anti conservative nationalism. As such it is an ideology deeply bound up with modernization and modernity, one which has assumed a considerable variety of external forms to adapt itself to the particular historical and national context in which it appears, and has drawn a wide range of cultural and intellectual currents, both left and right, anti-modern and pro-modern, to articulate itself as a body of ideas, slogans, and doctrine. In the inter-war period it manifested itself primarily in the form of an elite-led "armed party" which attempted, mostly unsuccessfully, to generate a populist mass movement through a liturgical style of politics and a programme of radical policies which promised to overcome a threat posed by international socialism, to end the degeneration affecting the nation under liberalism, and to bring about a radical renewal of its social, political and cultural life as part of what was widely imagined to be the new era being inaugurated in Western civilization. The core mobilizing myth of fascism which conditions its ideology, propaganda, style of politics and actions is the vision of the nation's imminent rebirth from decadence.

Roger Griffin, in The palingenetic core of generic fascist ideology (2003)

Sounds like a description of the Bush administration.

How about the country being founded on "christian values"?
It's just historically untrue.
That's another one that seems to be a matter of "if you repeat it enough" .....

Oh by the way don't get me wrong I fucking hate Obamacare.
But I'd rather see us with a single payer Government administrated health care system like Canada.

Obama said his would be the "most transparent" administration in history. That's proved true; we just thought he was using "transparent" to mean "open and frank" not "easily seen through." I started trying to keep track. I really did. But the library of congress couldn't keep up with the administration's lies, inconsistencies, and machinations. I only got this far:

GENERAL PERFIDY

Called the $6 Trillion accumulated during Bush's two terms unpatriotic when campaigning...then exceeded it in his first term.

Took credit for reducing annual deficit produced by the sequester bill he opposed (although it's true he only opposed it after he proposed it).

Said US can't avoid defaulting on debt obligations unless 100% of current expenditures are approved and increased. Monthly revenue = $225B. Debt interest = $25B. Math = Hard.

National Mall closed to veterans but White House permitted an "amnesty" rally for illegal aliens.

Expenditures not shutdown during sequester: White House chefs, Camp David staff, Military golf courses, Michelle Obama's "Let's Move" program and website.

Expenditures shutdown: NIH research on experimental treatments for pediatric cancer, Military Commissaries (PX), and Amber Alert website.

IRS targets conservative groups, tea-party groups, etc. for special scrutiny and treatment.

Benghazi raid, cover-up, and assorted scandal. See: Clinton, Hillary.

Agriculture Dept. pays billions of dollars to thousands of minorities allegedly denied the right to be farmers based on discrimination that happened to someone else, somewhere else, at some other time. Prior to Holder, the case had been poised for a dismissal. He pulled it.

Former chief-of-staff, Rahm Emanuel, uses Bill Clinton as an intermediary to get a primary candidate to drop out of a race in exchange for political appointment.

Obama campaign website disabled credit card verification systems, allowing anyone from anywhere in the world to donate any amount. That's a no-no under Federal law.

Obama approves assassinations via drone strikes and lauds "kill list".

NSA domestic surveillance program. See: Orwell, George.

Supported the wrong guys in the Arab Spring movement...and everywhere else, really.

Made muslim outreach a "top priority" for NASA. Cause islam is the next big thing for interstellar space?

"You didn't build that." Yep, I did, and now I pay taxes on it.

"It's good to spread the wealth around." Yep, as long as it's someone else's wealth.

The "Reverend" Jeremiah Wright. "Who?" turned into "I went to his church for several years."

Nixed references to "terrorism." Nidal Hassan's rampage at Fort Hood is "workplace violence" despite his shouting "Allahu Akbar", seeking martyrdom, and affiliation with muslim terror groups.

Obama's friend, neighbor, and political affiliate, Bill Ayers, was a member of the Weather Underground. "I've seen him around" turned into "my first political fundraiser was held at his house."

Tries to make recess appointments when Congress is not on recess. Supreme Court rules it improper, 9-0. When Obama does appoint people, it's these guys:

·   Green Jobs Czar- Van Jones, avowed communist.
·   White House Communications Director- Anita Dunn, avowed communist who applauds Chairman Mao as her "favorite philosopher".
·   Secretary of Energy- Stephen Chu, advocated artificially raising gas prices to $10.00 a gallon to reduce demand.
·   Secretary of Treasury- Tim Geithner, cheated on his taxes and excused it by saying he relied on Tax Master.
·   Safe School Czar- Kevin Jennings, allegedly promoted "sex-positive" texts for middle-schoolers which referenced "fisting", refused to report statutory rape, and expressed admiration for NAMBLA.

OBAMACARE

How ObamaCare became the "law of the land".

·   "ObamaCare" did not pass the House of Representatives and the Senate proper.
·   After Ted Kennedy died Massachusetts held a special election and voted in Scott Brown knowing he opposed ObamaCare, which would allow a filibuster.
·   Senate could not pass a new bill; House passed a previous bill from the Senate but with changes.
·   Senate passed it under "reconciliation" process, not subject to filibuster. However, reconciliation is only allowed for budget-neutral matters.
·   Obama marketed the individual mandate as a "penalty" not a "tax" and its proponents were claiming it would reduce spending.
·   Supreme Court upheld ObamaCare by characterizing the individual mandate as a "tax" and not as a "penalty".

So, now we have a bill the public was told was not a tax, passed through a process only appropriate for budget-neutral matters, which the Supreme Court said was only legal if it's a tax, and is going to cost us more than $1.8 trillion (at last count) over the next ten years.

The White House unilaterally grants 1,400 Waivers from ObamaCare - a program so good no one wants it.

Congressional staff eventually got stuck with ObamaCare but receive a $7,000 subsidy - why would anyone need a subsidy for an "Affordable" Care Act?

ObamaCare allows for 50% higher premiums for smokers; prohibits increased premiums for those with HIV. Social engineering, whaaaat?

ERIC HOLDER HAS BEEN A BUSY, BUSY BOY

ATF distributed weapons to Mexican cartel, lost track of them, and they were later used in crimes – including the murder of a border agent. Holder perjured himself when testifying he learned of it late in the game. Emails prove otherwise.

DOJ's surveillance of journalists and reporters. Holder perjures himself again by testifying he had never been associated with a potential prosecution of a journalist, yet he signed an affidavit accusing James Rosen of criminal conduct in order to monitor his calls and emails.

Holder held in contempt by congress. Obviously, neither the DOJ nor D.C. prosecutor take this up...despite legislation mandating them to do so. Wonder why.

Holder drops investigation of the Black Panthers for voter intimidation caught on videotape at a polling place.

Holder sues Boeing for trying to relocate its business to a right-to-work state.

Holder sues Gibson for allegedly importing rare wood for guitars; didn't sue Fender for doing the same thing. Fender was an Obama campaign contributor – Gibson was not.

Holder sues States that tried to enforce State and/or Federal immigration law when the Federal government did not.

Judd Dude

Of course they lied to the American people, that's what they(politicians) do best.
I agree DB, something needs to change NOW. We the People are being fucked, day in and day out. It's a classic case of the rich getting richer, and the losers getting a free ride on our middle-class-worker backs.

Back when I didn't have health care but was working at a decent gig, I looked into this so-called affordable care. The skeptic in me had to. Well since where I worked offered health care(at a $300/mo. Premium mind you) the affordable care plans would've cost about $180/month. Here is the kicker- the yearly deductible, wait for it...
6K!!!! So basically short of having open heart surgery or some other costly procedure, I'd have no REAL health care, just would have it "on paper".

I laughed, and said to myself take your plan and shove it up your ass. Go ahead and fine me, it'll still be much cheaper. I think that's what a lot of folks are saying too.
Worst part is the good workin folks who had good affordable health plans now pay exorbitant amounts in premiums and co pays in order to offset the cost of getting cheap care to the bums that don't work. No offense to them, I think they have a right to treatments if needed, but if it's on my fuckin back I have a problem with it.
"Is this a... what day is this???"

Masked Dude

Same here. Insurance more than quintupled, so now I have no insurance. And right now, I need it. But the deductible was about the same as yours.

So now I'm weaning myself off the meds. Slow going.

The hilarity of this, if not the tragedy, is the degree to which the political class has turned the debate into whether healthcare insurance is affordable. Excuse me: the point is whether healthcare, itself, is available. I submit it was available and essentially had been for the last thirty years.

     1.   For the rich, I hope we can all concede they've been able to take care of themselves rather handily.

     2.   For the middle class, they've had insurance available through the market or their employers. And, until government placed down its jackboot a bit too firmly, it wasn't all that unaffordable. To the extent it was not affordable, it was because the middle class has been made to subsidize the third group.

     3.   For the poor and destitute, there was Medicaid and (for the elderly) Medicare. Lesser known is the federal law mandating hospitals and many other medical providers to PROVIDE SERVICE WITHOUT REGARD TO THE PATIENT'S ABILITY TO PAY.

The true point of Obama's changes was never to provide affordable healthcare to everyone. It was to shift the debate to the question of insurance, escalate medical costs through bureaucracy, and consolidate provider networks, thereby breaking the already burdened system and pissing-off everyone sufficiently to accept the Marxist utopia of single-payer.

Fantastic. To paraphrase a better wit: "You think healthcare is expensive now? Wait until it's free."

Right now I work 30 hours per week and am considered full-time. As a result I am afforded insurance through my employer (a catholic hospital system) which carries with it the numerous co-pays and deductibles and "out of pocket expenses" that most other insurances carry. Because my employer has more than 50 workers on staff they are required to grant insurance to all full-timers. I recently read that the republican party in the house of representatives wants to change the definition of "full-time" to 40 hours per week and I'm already hearing the rumblings about why that would be a good thing. If that changes, by law, my employer could basically drop the health insurance for just about everyone in the place leaving us all to enter the marketplace.
I wonder, WWJD?
(Yes, I know I didn't capitalize some important things.)

He wouldn't need health insurance.
He could heal with his magic.
Maybe that's why the religious right seems so dead set against single payer universal health insurance?

Or maybe it's because they own the insurance companies in addition to most of the hospitals.

You're not wrong...and, no, you're not an asshole...but you've left out fully 3/4 of the picture. We shouldn't pretend it was the republicans who shattered the healthcare and health insurance systems. No, these reforms were pressed exclusively by the democrats.  They defined-down what "full time" employment meant by mandating coverage, in many cases, for those who work at least 30 hours per week. http://obamacarefacts.com/obamacare-employer-mandate

That led to charges many employers dropped their employees (primarily part-timers) below 30 hours to avoid the mandate or didn't hire more employees so they would fall under the FTE levels. http://www.forbes.com/sites/dandiamond/2015/01/13/obamacares-impact-companies-cut-hours-for-part-time-workers/   Well, yes. Businesses react to changes in the law. Did anyone expect them to just ignore it? These are the intended consequences of the law. Everyone knew it. Shit, they're not even bothering to lie about it now. (See, e.g., http://nypost.com/2014/12/16/jonathan-gruber-the-arrogant-profiteering-liar-of-the-year/ ).

So, yes, we're going to see republicans try to modify the law - only because they can't repeal it with this jackass in office. However, blaming them for the overall situation would be a bit like saying the Titanic weighed too much and ignoring the iceberg that just sank the motherf*cker. The sole practical solution is to repeal obamacare and repeal the federal law mandating the provision of healthcare without consideration of the ability to pay. But that would require everyone growing up, bearing their own goddamn costs, and keeping their filthy pilfering hands out of others' pockets. So, yeah, it won't happen.
