As the Zen master Sosan said

'The great way is not difficult for those who have no preferences.
When love and hate are both absent
everything becomes clear and undisguised'

Best description I have heard of being and abiding. Take it easy recognise the conditioning process then abide in the one reality of life. Meaning enjoy life and don't get into mind games.

Hsin Hsin Ming - verses on the faith mind of Sengstan (Sosan) 3rd Zen Patriarch, translated from the original Chinese by Richard B. Clarke, Zen teacher at the Living Dharma Centers, Amherst, Massachussets and Coventry, Connecticut.

His Dudeliness, Chase

Reminds me of the second verse of the Tao Te Ching:

When the world knows beauty as beauty, ugliness arises
When it knows good as good, evil arises
Thus being and non-being produce each other
Difficult and easy bring about each other
Long and short reveal each other
High and low support each other
Music and voice harmonize each other
Front and back follow each other
Therefore the sages:
Manage the work of detached actions
Conduct the teaching of no words
They work with myriad things but do not control
They create but do not possess
They act but do not presume
They succeed but do not dwell on success
It is because they do not dwell on success
That it never goes away

Abiding is being able to straddle the world of extremes, and accepting reality for what it is. One extreme produce the other. The ideal is to recognize both extremes, say fuck it, and go bowling.

Like the Sages, we as Dudeists must "conduct the teaching of no words." If we think of TBL, oftentimes the Dude does not speak but instead practices White Russian Yoga or listens to Whale Songs.

Captain Will

Dude.  Whoa.

Yeah, I did a jay about ten minutes before reading this.  I thought eastern philosophy was cool sober, but damn!  That shit really hits home when you've got a good buzz on!

Thanks, dudes!
