So I went out to Erna Nixon park(a typical Florida preserve. Pine shrub, little swamp, oaks) because the day was beautiful and I wanted to practice some Taoist breathing exercises. Really relaxing, allowing for much thought and contemplation. Finally I reach a spot where I sit down, center myself and start the breathing exercises. At first it's difficult to maintain focus but as I slide into the rhythm of it, then

BANG!

I can't describe it, almost like an "unlocking" feeling, similar to when you experience a thought that is very much not your own, or like struggling to build something and somebody just comes over, turns it upside down and finishes it for you. The feeling alone was incredible.

But the thought, or illumination, or realization, was that(and it's hard to put into words here because they just lack the...sense I suppose or the ability to describe it) there was this huge dance going on all around me. The trees, the insects, the animals were all in this dance together, this dance of life and death, of swaying with the wind, of growing leaves in the exact place they needed to be, of just working as one with the natural flow and rhythm. It was as if existence itself was a song and every action was right along to the beat.

But there was also this sense that I, that humanity, was no longer part of this dance. That we had forgotten how to do it. That because of this we weren't happy and we were just building and doing this and that in a vain attempt to...I don't know. The more we fought against it and buried ourselves outside it the worse we became.

The language I was trying to describe was failing, but a few more things seemed to be "revealed"(I'll save those for another time) and I was left in a very blissful, happy, calm state. I said my prayers of thanks and continued on down the trail. As I left I was left with this sense that such a place as this was superior to any church or building we could construct. Here for all to see, for Theist or Non-Theist, a living breathing example of the wonder and complexity of life, bound together in perfect balance.

I'll have to come by more often.

That sounds incredible the way you describe it, man. Run with that shit. I've tried some yoga-breathing stuff but didn't get much from it besides an oxygen deprivation high. Building up to breathing in for 30 seconds and then out for 30 seconds is apparently for dudes in better shape than me.

Thankie' comrade! My head is still trying to reel on all I experienced.

Think I might make it a daily practice!
