Pre-mixed or hand made on your beverage?

Random thoughts lead to random conversations!

White Russians... Since I've been reading through many of the posts on this board I couldn't help but notice there is much mentioning of this beverage.

So do you prefer to get a pre-mix little brown bottle, a kit, or mixing everything by hand for ideal proportions and regardless of your preference, why?

Personally, I'm not a big white russian guy; I imbibe them on occasion, but it's a certain mood. I'm more a stout oat soda guy, and bourbon over an ice cube or two.
But when I do drink em it's one of the four pack that my wife gets on rare occasion for a dessert in liquid form.

I've never been a big mixed drink person in general (though I did used to enjoy mudslides now and then, but with the same infrequency). And I'm probably not going to change my drinking habits, to be completely frank. But, this whole train of thought is - since this beverage is so embedded in TBL, it could follow that there's a possibility of it transcending it's simple status of refreshment and becoming something more significant amongst Dudeists.

Just wondering if that's case for some of you (or none of you). I mean is it just an alcoholic concoction or is it a like imbued with some spiritual (pun intended) meaning?

I hand-blend everything. It's kinda relaxing. Can't focus on bullshit work, fucking gubberment, or godamn neighbors when trying to fix yourself a drink. I also like to experiment with proportions...and some days truly are made for doubleshots.

You can get Caucasians pre-mixed in a bottle?  I did not know that.  Still, I prefer 'em hand mixed for the reasons jgiffin mentioned--some days you want a little more of this, and a little less of that.  Besides, it's not like we're building a fucking railroad here.   ;)

Oh ya... Kahlua makes them premixed... used to be I think TGIF made em in 1.5liter as well (maybe they still do?)

It was really a question about ritual, I reckon. I mean I roll my own (tobacco, I don't partake in the other anymore) and I find this weird and familiar calm in the making; it's almost more relaxing than smoking the cigarette is.

It's Zen, brother; mind and body focused on that single act and living purely in that moment.

hand made is the only way to go!  while the Dude never seems to shake his up (just stirs w a pinky finger I believe), I think shaking it makes the drink better.  I use a Ball jar with a lid to make mine.  two shots of Titos vodka, some half&half (sometimes this amt varies based on how much I have, how strong I want it etc), then fill the jar half way up with crushed ice.  put the lid on the jar and shake the hell out of it for a bit.  this will make some of the ice dissolve and make the drink extra frothy, sorta like a milkshake.  then open her up  and just let some kalua kind of drizzle down in there.  I don't shake it or stir any more at that point, the kalua just kind of suspends in the froth.  I like the jars better than an official bartenders shaker thingy bc its less clean up and I am a southern Dude so it kind of fits my personality.  plus you can make a big ass caucasian this way.  give it a shot dudes, hope u enjoy.
