TODAY is 45 years since the landing of the Apollo 11 lander, named the Eagle, on the Moon, July 20, 1969.

Where were you and what were you doing then? I was attending my brother Bob's first wedding to his wife Joy on that day, as best man. They had television sets set up in the house where they were married, and also at the wedding reception, tuned in to this event, even while the wedding ceremony was taking place!

A real historic event for the USA and NASA, and the fulfillment of mankind's dream of going to the Moon, and becoming the real life event depicted 19 years before in George Pal's classic science fiction movie DESTINATION MOON (Eagle-Lion, 1950).

Here's to Neil Armstrong, Edwin Buzz Aldrin, and Michael Collins, for going where no dude has gone before!

Very cool.
I remember seeing it when I was a kid.

The local news here did a man on the street where they asked people what year we landed on the moon.
Nobody knew. And some of the young people actually didn't know we had landed on the moon. That was eye opening.
1969 was quite a year.
Moon landing and a month later Woodstock. Among other things.

Out here we are all his children

on the bright side i guess in the words of the great hitchhikers guide to the galexy they will be the first people against the wall when the revolution comes >.>

a few weeks ago i was at a disability work support meeting thingy and they had a photo of the inside of the Australian national war memorial and erternal flame and there were people their that dident know what it was.. i told them too be ashamed seeing as their in the same freeking town as the thing! (if you can miss the thing rely , shame on you http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/e/ed/Canberra_-_War_Memorial_1.jpg its huge) we owe our existence too alot of the names on those walls so guess its not just the moon landing that people manage too be oblivious of theres probably alot more.
