I thought they'd stopped doing this miming stuff years ago.

There has been quite a bit of speculation on The Super Bowl performance which feature The Red Hot Chilli Peppers, where their instruments were not plugged into anything. Music Feeds just released this. http://musicfeeds.com.au/news/red-hot-chili-peppers-had-no-choice-but-to-mime-at-super-bowl/

Actually if you look at the other musicians none of them have mikes (especially on the brass section) and it looks like most of them are  miming as well.

Personally I think they sound better that way.
Now if they could just stop the sound from the speakers we'd be all set.

what's the deal with half-time shows anyway? could they skip them and just do sports instead or do people dig the shows more than the game? I've never watched american football so i guess i could be missing something.

Hey Dude,

I was just having this conversation with my wife the other day. She heard on the radio that we have In Living Color to thank for halftime shows (remember that show?). Apparently they put on the first "halftime show" -- they aired a mini-show during halftime of the Superbowl and viewers actually switched channels to watch (instead of staying with the talking heads that were customary at halftime). The reception was so strong that the NFL decided they needed to combat it (otherwise, nobody would be interested in buying those commercial slots), so they instituted the musical halftime show, beginning with Michael Jackson. Apparently, as a matter of tradition, none of the artists actually get paid for their participation. It's just an honor.

That's the word, anyway.

The breeze in the courtyard departs and returns.
Life is like that, so why not relax?
Who can keep us from celebrating?

We also have In Living Color to thank for Jim Carrey and Jennifer Lopez.

Jamie Foxx was the only real A-list talent to come out of that show. I'm a huge fan of his. Django Unchained was my favorite movie of the last few years.

That's not to say some of the other comedians weren't amusing, they're were just that - amusing.
