Happy Thanksgiving USA Dudes!

(I think that's right and timely)

Thanks, Dude!  Happy Turkey Day to other Dudes. Gratitude is the Dudeliest emotion.
The clouds above us come together and disperse;
The breeze in the courtyard departs and returns.
Life is like that, so why not relax?
Who can keep us from celebrating?

No turkey for us today, tomorrow morning and through the weekend we'll be picking up tons of scrap birds from the grocery stores.  We always run out of places to stick them all before we can find homes for them (have you ever tried to handle 20 thawing turkeys at the same time?).

Then there's all the pre-made pies and dinners that spill if you aren't careful handling them.

I think I'll be thankful today isn't tomorrow.  :)

Got a bit of coding to do, clean the driveway, tend the fire...and the microwave just beeped so my lunch is hot.  Bye for now!

Thought I'd join in and watch the game. Happy thanksgiving dudes. 7-0 to raiders with 50 seconds of the first quarter to go ... Should my post have a spoiler alert?

That was Very thoughtful of you Meekon5....being across the pond and all. Thank you.
I'm having another tradition in our part of the country....a turkey, filling, mayo and cranberry sauce sandwich!
As I was eating it  I got to wondering about your holidays. From what you wrote I see you celebrate Halloween, and I heard you Brits have something called "Boxing Day" on Dec.26. But other than that I really don't know what other days you celebrate nationally. I know it's Not July 4th!....although you are probably well rid of us! 8)

Not so much nationally (one of the other Brits could prob better give that info) but my own version of the pagan year:

YearWheelJust Linea by meekon5, on Flickr

This shows the four major events, two solstices (longest and shortest day), two equinoxes (day and night equal), four mid term festivals, not always exactly in the middle of the proceeding and following festivals but close enough.

The two halves of the year, dark (grey) and light (yellow), ruled by the holy king (dark) and the oak king (light) respectively.

I haven't highlighted the quarters (Light Dark, Light Light, Dark Light,  and Dark Dark from Winter solstice clockwise).

Pagan (Neo-Pagan) new year on Samhain (Halloween).

I think the runes are aligned more or less correctly (must admit I pinched them from somewhere rather than draw them myself). (additional - I think the runes are aligned 180 degrees incorrectly the "f" rune Fehu should be at the bottom more correctly aligned with the end of June, not as I have it here at the top in December, doh I have to go back and adjust that now).

Should also be better considered on the moon cycle, thirteen months with the last one being a bit of a clean up (big party around the solstice) to allow for the fact that year is 465.4 days long.

Winter Solstice you count the food account for what has been used, calculate what will be used then feast on the surplus (if there is one).

Summer Solstice you begin to plan for the winter and lay down stores for the winter.

(oh and also sacrifice the Oak King on the summer solstice after he is beaten by the Holly King, then do it the other way round on the winter solstice).

All IMHDO as usual.

(additional: couldn't help myself:

Added shading for quarters and turned runes round to align them with proper months ish.)

So far we've gotten 110 turkeys, but I'm sure the stores aren't done emptying out.  We've got two more regular pickups in the next 24 hours and may have to assist on another (just heard the one person doing that store got 26 shopping carts full).

The one time of year the food banks have a LOT of food.  Hope everyone likes turkey (when you're hungry, even the expensive hand-decorated cookies taste good).

Meekon5....back in 2007 I started doing research for a story I had in mind....and maybe tuning into a novel!....called "The Wizard's Tongue". I have it pretty well fleshed out except for a 'small' but crucial detail. I have been looking all over the net and have reduced myself to actually asking a few people who are "in the know" and I thought just may know what I been looking for. After your Runic Wheel here....maybe I should have asked you a long time ago.
I am looking for the lost Runes of Power....the Strong Runes....the 9 Stallions.
Do you know what they are....what they look like...their names?
I know where to find them, but it would mean upending a National Monument or two to (get to) them.

Yeah, I have addressed this to Meekon5, but I'm putting it here in a public post so anyone who may know the answer can reply. You can private message me if you do not wish to post the 9 runes of power here on the forum. 8)
