Actually I think this is a redundant argument.

As in previous conversations, if you feel the need to make things "Spiritual" then go ahead if it helps why not. But there are also enough who don't feel the need to formalise the process, which is just as valid.

Personally I would have placed a big rejoinder on this, it is entirely his point of view.

His comments on the Dude meditating are very selective, there is very little actual footage of the Dude meditating, but then if he wants to take that from his practice of Dudeism then why not.

I disagree about the "Living in the moment" thing I don't see that at all, in fact I spend most of my time doing the opposite. Most of my "What day is this?" moments come from being more distracted than a four year old in a whole shop of shiny things.

Again everyone is entitled to their opinion though.

Also I have frequently voiced my opinion on people who feel they need titles like "The One True Dude", I've always been bothered by the title "Arch Dude of" because it tends to say to me that he is placing himself above others. Just IMHDO of course.

actually it's a pun. Arch in the sense of being ironic, not of being the leader. no titles in dudeism should be taken seriously, including my own (The Dudely Lama). I think it goes without saying that if someone says they're the "One True Dude" and actually believes it then that pretty much means that they aren't Dudeist at all. people ask me all the time if they can call themselves the "Archdude" or Head Dude or Duderius Rex or whatever of this of that town and I always say yes because none of these titles are official. The only thing that is sort of "official" is the ordination, for what it's worth. Actually Jeff Bridges apparently now calls himself "The Dudely Lama" (in jest), and I have no problem with it, of course. I suppose it could get confusing if lots of people use the same title, but so far that hasn't proved to be an issue.

I think most here know my thoughts on this....of course It Is your Religion/Philosophy so you can do with it as you wish....but if i could have my druthers...I am against "christianizing" Dudeism.
Your self-applied title of Dudely Lama is well and good....not really "Religious" type title...it still bugs the shit out of me that the Buddhist dalai lama is referred to as "His Holiness"...what the fuck is "Holy" about Buddhism???
I strongly agree with cakebelly and Meekon5....we are all just dudes....attaching a honorific to our name is just pretentious and smacks to much of old fuck religion. Adding tenets and dogmas beyond the very basic Abide, just take it easy man, and don't be a dick (which I take as dudespeak for do no harm)...is just turning dudeism into just another branch of the christian religion. I will turn in my ordination and denounce dudeism if that ever happens!
Having 'dudes' adding christian honorifics I find just as offensive.
Yeah, I'm a bit sensitive on that matter having been mind fucked by the church since birth. It took 30 years till I was in my 50s to rid myself of their brainwashing and I am Still really really pissed about it!

Ok that's my rant, and it's just like my opinion man. But I would like you all to think about it and consider if you really want to use the terminology of a pedophile institution like the christian church. 8 year old's dudes!

Hell yeah! My pad and back yard will handle about 35 dudes, including my jacuzzi. Would be good dudely fellowship, good burgers and good beer, some female forms always welcome, and Creedence to keep the party pad tied together.

Okay I see this now but completely lost on a dyslexic ().

I used to have an English teacher who would get me to stand up in front of the class and spell "Diary" then spell "Dairy" because he knew I couldn't tell the difference between the two.

To be honest I was eighteen before I could differentiate between phonetically similar words (to, too, and two for instance).

At university I had to have myself finally diagnosed because one of my history papers was given a first but the external examiner wanted documentation because I had achieved fifteen spelling mistakes in the first paragraph.

I have to admit i would probably have my ex-english teacher prosecuted under the disabled discrimination act now but such legislation did not cover dyslexics at the time.
