Have people always been this nuts?

I was driving back from Deer Hunting earlier and there was a weekly talk show on local radio and they had the meteorologist from the local TV station on. He fields questions about the weather. In the space of an hour there were 2 separate callers who seriously voiced their belief that the "contrails" (white lines of exhaust from jets) are actually a conspiracy on the part of the government to spray some menacing substance on the unsuspecting populace.

What is it like to walk around thinking like this?
How did this happen to us?

I really believe someone over seize starts these things with something like "watch this. I bet I can post some nonsense about the white lines in the sky being a government plot and those idiots will actually believe it"

They walk amongst us. It's just amazing.

Yes.

There's a guy on internet radio named Alex Jones who has been talking about the "chemtrails" for years. His website and the name of the radio station is "Infowars.com". He has had some people on the show who have talked about these things who, allegedly, were involved in gubmint programs involving this kind of activity.
He may not be 100% in the game as far as mentation is concerned but he is very entertaining to listen to because he'll be interviewing a guest on the show and suddenly go off on a 5 minute rant.
I don't know the truth about the chemtrail thing, and I'm really not too concerned about it. It's not that I doubt their willingness to engage in stuff like this (remember Agent Orange and all the subsequent denials) but it isn't like screeching about it is going to curtail it. If it's affecting me in some way then it's affecting all my neighbors in the same fashion so we'll all go down together.
In all fairness to Mr. Jones, though, I remember him predicting 9-11 about 3 months before it happened right down to the passenger jets being used in the attack. On the other hand his reasoning behind this was the plot of an old TV show called "The Lone Gunmen" which was an offspring of "The X-Files" in which the heroes thwarted that very kind of attack at the last second by the use of their computer genius.
So take it with a grain of salt.

Ya, they get more exposure now thanks to modern media.  And, like attracts like...

Ah Alex Jones.

I guess the thing that really fries my brain pan is how do these people live?
Do they stick their head out the door and check the sky to see if it's safe to go outside?
While I"m about 99% sure that their aren't any kids involved here if theoretically they had kids would they make them wear breathing masks if there are while lines in the sky?
If I actually believed that the Government was spraying the populace with something harmful I'd either do something or move to Canada.
And most specifically how does this actually happen. I mean in brass tacks.
Are we suggesting that the military is on board and complicit?
And it's being carried out over the course of many years so several generations are trained and complicit?
As you start to dissect the claim it becomes clearly implausible. The only way that anyone can make claims of this sort of far reaching conspiracies is if there is no requirement for a believable specific narrative. As soon as you start to try and even imagine such a narrative it just falls to pieces. Somehow to day it seems like it's just fine to fling ridiculous claims without a shred of even common sense.

I group this BS along with other asinine BS like fluoride makes us docile/unpsychic, DDT caused thin eggshells, et cetera. I can't get how they say it does this & that, yet the facts don't show it.

It would be funny if they didn't believe it so ardently.

I'm one of the admins on a tin-hat forum and chemtrails are one of the milder topics.  I try to stay out of most of the far out discussions, it just upsets people when you disagree with them.  A good one is The Helical Solar System:

( can't post a link so I'll break it apart www dot djsadhu dot com slash the-helical-model-vortex-solar-system-animation )

The fact I've worked on spacecraft that fly very well using equations based on the standard model doesn't get me any points in the arguments so I just try to keep people civil.

Haha, good find. That's why I Very occasionally listen to the guy. He had a couple of very funny interviews where the guest kinda rolled eyes when Alex got cookin'. One was with Joe Rogan and the other was with Doug Stanhope. This is some funny shit.

Perhaps they simply don't understand combustion in a very thin atmosphere. Lol!

Actually it's water vapour:

Very good article on the subject

This is why I find conspiracy theories amusing. No matter how much logical thinking and facts you present, it doesn't matter. You're either part of the conspiracy or They have you fooled & you're a patsy. :)
