Far out, always neat to see a nice model train layout.

This morning I spent an extra hour on my train into work because of broken "Fish Plates" it's only because of my Hornby model set that I actually knew what "Fish Plates" were (for those that don't know they are bits of metal that connect one rail to another, in Hornby track they are the little things that connect one track piece to another).

To be honest I just play Simutrans now for my train fix.

Just look at these variations.

Or that Microsoft train sim, you can build bigger train sets than I ever could afford (but you don't get that feeling of achievement that I got as a kid after making a Paper Mache tunnel with my Dad).

Though i will admit having a flashback to that warm electric smell the Hornby engines always had.

I'm surprised they still use those. Here we got solid rails- they lay the rail sections in place and weld them together. Makes for a lot quieter ride as well as less noise for trains passing through the suburbs.
