Feds tell Web firms to turn over user account passwords

Secret demands mark escalation in Internet surveillance by the federal government through gaining access to user passwords, which are typically stored in encrypted form.

Coming soon to a state near you... The United Socialist States of America!

Most Americans don't even know what socialism entails and this is EMPIRE baby, not socialism. The Roman empire started as a widely respected democracy and then the international conglomerates took over just as in the US. At one point half of Roman citizens were not allowed to vote, half were on the dole, and half their population consisted of slaves. The US now has 10% of the entire population of Mexico living here, we're steadily disenfranchising people as fast as we can, and the international conglomerates and banks are making record profits in the worst economy since the great depression which they caused. Socialism is where the people actually own the means of production and a welfare state empire in the tradition of the Romans is not socialism anymore than the Nazis were socialist.

wuliheron dude. yes its empire dude and its frustrating and this aggression will not stand, man.
but every country wants more power and more wealth. every country would strive for empire if given the chance, and probably in a much more violent way.
now there's a lot of new shit going on in america which many people don't like, but what's the alternative?
if america falls apart and gets like egypt is now, the enemies will move in and take advantage of america's state of chaos and fuck us all in the ass. we don't want that date on wednesday dude.

an analogy would be the discovery of the atomic bomb. the nazis were the ones who had the idea first. then Einstein found out about it and warned Roosevelt and america started to make the atomic bomb and succeeded where the nazis failed.
ever since then, we have held this responsibility of power among the other nations of the world. if we refuse that power, you can be sure that many other countries would be happy to move in and take advantage of any weakness in us.

don't get me wrong, i agree with you wuliheron. but i'm just playing devils advocate here. we americans are so caught up in the evils that our own super-powerful government has displayed, but we forget that other nations can be much more ruthless. if the american system crashes into the mountain, dude, there are some violent nihilists who would love to cut off all our johnsons.

The US does not control the Empire, the banks and international conglomerates do just as they did during the Roman Empire. They're mindless conquering machines that make governments look tame in comparison. The US government is merely their means to achieve that end. What Americans need to do, if you ask me, is wake up to the fact the banks and conglomerates now control everything and they need to protect themselves from them just as the Romans did.

Yep - banks and conglomerates are certainly the puppet masters. Unless they're not:  http://www.trueactivist.com/gab_gallery/iceland-president-let-banks-go-bankrupt1/

Wish I knew how we could enact such a movement here in the west. Banks should be nothing more than a utility company; corporations should have a 50 year life span.

That is all.

Before the civil war the US kept all corporations and banks on a tight leash. Jeffersonian democrats knew their middle class of farmers would be eaten alive just like they were in Europe if they let the corporations have their way. The Civil war established that the only way forward was to make a deal with the devil and it's been downhill ever since. We made some progress during the great depression, but once the money started rolling in big time after WWII we once again gave them all the slack they asked for. Now they're encouraging Americans to fight over budgets and cultural issues while the government stagnates allowing them to essentially do the same crap they did to collapse the economy in the first place.

Judd Dude

Shit is so fucked man... Next they'll be bangin down the doors of our private residences and tossin marmots into the bathtub while we try to relax.
"Is this a... what day is this???"

In most of the country it is already legal for cops to obtain warrants that no judge ever has to see and in Arizona the cops can bust down your door if they merely say they smelled pot. When they made a mistake once they ended up shooting a two tour of duty Iraq veteran in front of his mother when he shoved the rest of the family in the closet and reached for his assault rifle. Absolute power corrupts absolutely and the more power we give the cops and insane Mofos like the Tea Party the more corrupt they become while, of course, blaming everybody else in the country for all the corruption and loss of constitutional rights. However, this is what the majority of Americans today believe is what they want.

First they came for the communists,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a communist.

Then they came for the socialists,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a socialist.

Then they came for the trade unionists,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a trade unionist.

Then they came for me,
and there was no one left to speak for me.
