I am surrounded by Nihilists, Reactionaries, and People Who's Thinking Is Too Uptight, but I will Abide.
Though it seems there are more Gutters than Strikes, and more Downs than Ups, I will Abide.
As I face my enemies, their aggression will not stand, and I will draw a line across which they shall not cross, for my mind is Limber and I Just Take It Easy.  I Abide.
Any man who doesn't know how to cook deserves every bad meal he ever gets.   -Richard "Dick" Leary   (1930-1997)

We may not have 3000 years of tradition, from Moses to Sandy Koufax, but at least it's an ethos.

Liking the prayer/chant/mantra - here's another (edited by me, for those unfamiliar with the film) from "The Men Who Stare At Goats" (it has probably been posted elsewhere on this forum, but what the heck):

"Mother Earth, you are  my life support system, as a human being I must drink your blue water, live inside your red clay and eat your green skin. I pray my sandals will always kiss your face and my footsteps match your heartbeat. Carry my body through space and time, you are my connection to the Universe and all that comes after. I am yours and you are mine. I dig your style, together we abide."

With a little bit of tweeking, here and there, it could be a prayer for our times.  ;)

I, for one, approve this message.
