TRON Legacy

Okay I want to try and do this before the feeling has worn off.

I have only just watched Tron2.

I avoided it for quite some time just to try and distance myself from the merry-go-round of over hype and dissapointment, but also from the point of view that you just shoudn't be playing with the original.

Firstly let me set aside all the shite about anything Geff does is sacred. Let's be honest he has done some good films and he has done some bad films.

Secondly let me address the problem with the film. Clue. Not as good a VR charachter as perhaps Smeagol. A bit plastic and stiff.

Then thats it, from that point onwards this is actually a realy beautiful film, especially for me as a fan of the original. the use of light (in costumes, in sets, in everything).

Also the homages to the original films, the charcterisations, the world.

Flynns archade, the look, the cast.

It held signature moments that linked back to the ultimate geeky original, and gave me that wonderful warm feeling of something, actually no somewhere I had been before and enjoyed returning to.

This film left me with a tear in my eye, a tear of absolute enjoyment.

If you enjoyed the original, just sit back, susspend your disbelief and let this wash over you.

Don't expect Shakespeare, and you should be just let them wash over you.

You may miss some of the nostalgia the rest of us feel for the films.

The original was quite a technical achievement(at the time), but watched now (a bit like lawnmower man), it may loose something.

The new one extrapolates the world as though it had existed in a computer system independantly of modern gaming developments.

You may also miss little things like the secret office is hidden behind a version of one of the actual Tron arcade games that was inspired by the film.

As a fan of the first film I thought the story was a little weak but I really enjoyed the visuals. I also thought they were laying in arcs for future sequels which is always a bit off putting to me. And clue did remind me of the plastic head in the wild boys video for some reason

Dude, I loved TRON Legacy. I had not seen the first one when I saw the second, but dude, in blu-ray on a 1080p tv, a jay and few beverages, that shit blew my mind. Loved it! It's not perfect, but damn it's good. I then later watched the first one and saw the promise that was there. It has some good shit in it, but of course it shows it's age. I highly recommend it. And you can watch it with little dudes, always a plus for me. Keep it easy man.

Agreed Meekon - I loved it as well, even though the story wasn't "epic".  I did have to park my expectations and just let it stand on its own.  I judge a movie by how well it makes me forget to look at the clock... this one passed the test in spades.
