Yep, a whole year. On September 30th of 2011, I got myself ordained as a Dudeist priest. The best part is, I didn't have to change much about myself at all. I was already pretty laid back, albeit there are still many who're calmer'n myself. I was frustrated though, I know that for sure. Couldn't find a church that would accept me, so I'd given up on the system entirely. Because God's a good buddy of mine, and churches usually frown on that.

They told me "Nay! He is the everlasting light that controls your life for eternity!" And I was like.. fuck that, He's my buddy, and He's a dude. They tried getting me to believe that every single thing in the universe happens because he makes it happen. But through science we see that everything happens automatically. Nature can take care of itself. And I thought to myself, if God made the universe in a way that allows it to run itself, doesn't that make Him a bit of a slacker? I usually got a lot of "Die, heretic, die!" if I ever said that out loud, haha. Good times..

So, one day I stumbled upon this pleasant beach community here and thought to myself, this could be one of the greatest ideas ever. The church that preaches non-preachiness. I don't know about y'all, but I fucking hate getting preached at, talked down to and such. I said to myself, these guys seem alright. And what's more, I hadn't even seen "The Big Lebowski" yet. It wasn't until I saw this site that I decided to seek out the movie and find out what the buzz was about. Laughed my ass off.

So, after roaming the forums here and deciding that this was the church for me, I eventually considered getting ordained, but I wasn't sure. I talked it out in a discussion somewhere in this forum and was reassured that I'd make a fine addition to the Dudeist priesthood. I don't regret it one little bit. This place rules, man. I can rail off any theory I want without fear of persecution. And we can grok about pretty much anything here. Good vibes, man. This church rules. l-)

I know that was a lot to read, but if you stuck with it, thankie. Everything above is all in my humble opinion of course. Everything I said about God and the universe is a theory I worked out myself by comparing science and religion, then finding a happy medium that I thought sounded viable. I believe in a higher power of some sort, it's cool if you don't. Peace, Dudes.

Well, you know the drill... grab an oat soda, grab a lane, grab a white russian (however you want to interpret that), and - well, it's past the 10th, so rent's due. Great to have you on board ninja dude.

It was a year for me as well (June 24). Here's to abiding!!!  ;D ;D ;D

A year of abiding sounds good to me!

Worldman

For me it is more than a year. I have been ordained in August 2009. I don't even remember how I got to know about Dudeism. All of a sudden it was there. When I discovered Dudeism, I exclaimed: "Man, that is what you have been waiting for all your life". And looking (in details) at the website of the Church, reading the Dudespaper, the Dude Te Ching and the ABide Guide, I realised that I was a Dude already long before the Church existed. And I am proud. Because I am not an educated man and I have no diploma hanging on the wall in my apartment. But in my living room my ordination certificate is hanging, nicely framed, on the wall. And that is really something to be proud of.
