Was at the Griffith Park Observatory this weekend with my spacial lady friend (a very cool place by Hollywood in Los Angeles) and had to get a picture of this ;D.................



You have no idea how temped I was to write the word "Fucking" right above "Park Ranger" with a small black marker my wife had in her purse (it amazes me as to what female forms carry in their purses).

By the way, M5 dude, we saw this awesome show and I was thinking that you would have really liked it...........

I've been there DB! It's right up by the HOLLYWOOD sign. I remember the great views being spoiled by the smog!

A cool place indeed.

Yup, could see the sign easily from up there. Griffith Park Observatory is an awesome place to visit. Actually, what you were seeing (it was the same when we were there) wasn't much smog, if any, but natural haze coming in from the ocean which is, when facing the Hollywood sign, off to your left (west). L.A. got rid of it's smog in the late 70's with strict air quality control laws that worked.

One of the biggest was catalytic converters required on all cars, the smog soon disappeared. When I was a kid in school the weather reports always included "smog alerts" and "smog reports" and sometimes parents were encouraged to "keep kids indoors" on bad days, and often "recess" during the school day was suspended and we had to stay inside the classroom. All of that is long past in L.A., the smog is all but totally gone I'm glad to say.

;D But you can still get genuine L.A. smog......................

I stand corrected Sir and thank you for the information...I was there in 1986 so the smog was all gone by then...but the haze existed for sure! :)

I ain't never buying me a can of that Pandora's box that's for sure! :)
