Dudeism, like The Big Lebowski, is something that just came my way as I have wandered through life. My parents at a young age introduced me to The Big Lebowski, and it was the first movie I ever watched enough to recite. Just a few days ago, my sister called me while I was napping around 6PM and told me about this website and Dudeism. I told her I'd check it out, then finished my nap.

I'm a philosopher (aren't we all?) and study philosophy at University of North Texas. For the last, oh, 6-7 years I've been living as a Dude; I even got my friends to call me Dude.

Anyway, I've lived my life with a Dudeist philosophy for years without really being all that conscious of it. I even have a rug that really ties the room together. I have a job, kinda -- it's a seasonal job at a concert pavilion where I sell the band merchandise for each event that rolls by. I've worked some pretty amazing shows. Come to think of it, I met a guy that was a roadie for Metallica once, and last year I met a Dude who was doing merch with the band. He resembled Jeff Dowd so much I almost asked for his autograph. I should've anyway.

Aw hell, I'm rambling again. Anyway, I've not only studied philosophy and philosophized myself of things, but lived as a philosopher would -- which is to say I've lived like a Dude. Heraclitus was not the only Dude, though he was most definitely Dude. There's lots to think about in philosophy; lots to ponder and question. But I've never really questioned the Dudeist philosophy. It's just always fit right in there.

I must say I'm impressed and excited with the Great Dudes in History page. Sarah Silverman I'm not in agreeance with, but that's, like, your opinion, man, so fuck it. I salute whoever nominated and supported Vonnegut and Heraclitus; I hope to think someone up to nominate soon.

Cheers.

well stated, mr. philosophy man.
I my self dabbled in philosophy at one point... not in 'nam of course. But college, yes.
I agree with the Sarah Silverman comment, and go further to say that this aggression will not stand, man, and  she should be taken off the wall as an obvious outlier, perhaps replacing her with another woman, such as Julianne Moore, 'cuz she hooked up with the Dude in the movie.

What about Selma Hayek? Hot, funny, smart, and willing to share her awesome rack with random African Orphans. A true dudeist saint.
