Happy DUDEKKAH for all of us of the hebraic background.

hanukkah dude style started last night.
its always the same, starting with NO shopping at the mall, no spending tons of money( though my husband did give me a bottle of saphire gin with a single martini glass)....
we hang a few dreidels and shit the kid made on the mantle, the kid gets 8 gifts, one a night( most of which i got from the second hand store), and we all eat and drink and party til we crash exhausted around 9pm!
we dont visit family, we dont go to parties, we dont dress up though the kid and i DID get matching flannel pj's wth owls on them from da.
its nice to have no obligations, no cards to send, no committments to follow through on. it's like festivus, dudeism and a little jewish( for the lox and the candles) thrown in for good measure.
i even say while lighting the candles 'barach ata ALA DUDE' instead of 'adonai'.
the man and the kid roll their eyes but then i say 'fuck it, lets go bowling' and we  open the champagne, the oat soda and the chocolate milk respectivly.
