Thieves in my backyard

So I have a shitty bicycle, but it gets me from A to B. Since I'm still working on getting my license and I have about 5 bucks in my bank account, it's not like I can afford gas (even though I do have a truck).

When I woke up this morning, me and my special gentleman got into a disagreement about some relationship what have yous and I went back to sleep to try to cool my jets.

Then i realize my fucking bike is missing from the backyard. Now I don't ask for much for myself--I never ask for expensive gifts, I don't make a big deal about birthdays, and I certainly don't have a lot of money or expect to go out all the time. But I never fucking buy anything for myself. That bike was free, granted, but it was MINE, and some fucking nihilist (probably a goddamn kid) took it without thinking about what it meant to someone else.

What does my special gentleman friend say? "Well, if you would have put it around the back of the house like I said..."

I know it's not Dude to cry, but working 3 jobs and barely making ends meet, dealing with human paraquats down at the department of human services about getting a food card and all the other bullshit, I'm about to lose it.

I'm just so angry, because I can't afford to pay for my license test, can't afford for gas for the car to get me to work, and I can't afford to replace a bicycle!

Aww man, that's harsh :(

It doesn't matter where you put the bike, you don't expect anyone to come onto your property and take it.  Hope venting here eases the pain.  And don't worry about shedding tears, I myself need to vent once in a while, to let all the stress out safely, rather than letting it turn to bile in my dudely veins.  Don't confuse dudeliness with social pride, any dude can cry... it's just human!

I'm sure when all the stress and worry of the day has blown over somewhat you can look to your special gent for support.  And you can always turn to us for it if you need any extra!

You're a hero for carrying on 3 jobs!  A real, grade-A survivalist!

I salute you and offer my sympathies, AB.

Keep up the mantra of your signature, it's a good one :)

Just gotta feed the monkey, you know?

I work at a convenience store down the street, so I'll notice if one of the little local neighborhood bastards have it. Then there will be some mild aggression.

I just get pretty fed up with being poor and having to eat ramen for lunch (again) and it gets even worse when someone who is probably either spoiled rotten or has a false sense of entitlement comes and takes something from right outside my bedroom window.

I could really enjoy some of that Jim Beam in the fridge, but I've gotta work in two and a half hours. :(

Oh well. I'm sure I'll feel better after I eat some lunch and clean up the ol' abode. The only thing keeping me even remotely calm at this point is knowing that in two months it's going to be too cold to ride a bike and I'll have to depend on my truck to get me through the winter.

Thanks dude :)

Hey there AB Dude. That's shit! I feel for you dude.

Whoever stole the bike has no idea what a bunch of crap they've put you through and all for a ride home. :(

You can maybe try your local recycling centre or dump and see if you can get a really cheap one...we sell em in ours for 3 quid!

QuoteI know it's not Dude to cry
Fuck, nobody sent me that email! Then I need to rescind my dudeness card! I've cried an ocean this year.  :(

I hope you get back on your wheels soon dude.

Peace.

Love is like a butterfly it goes where it pleases and it pleases where it goes. :)

Thanks, caesar dude.

I guess even the Dude got pissed when his wheels were jacked. Also with the rug stealing and what have you. Either way, I'm kinda hoping the universe will even itself out. And if not, whatever, man, I've got two feet.

My special gent said he found a bike in his grandma's garage that I could probably just have outright, which is pretty awesome if it's short enough (I'm only 5'). Thankfully work is only half a block down the street and it's raining today anyways so I wouldn't be cruising around much even if I did have my bike.

Thanks for helping even me out, dudes.

It might cheer you up to think of the thief. It's possible that whoever stole your bike was also in dire need of the cycle, and it did him well. With out you AB dude, that thief would still be out there without the thing he needed. Maybe not, but looking at things like that always brightens my spirit when the color starts to fade from the world.

Holy shit, what happened? Haha.

I'm all for charity and helping out those less fortunate but that doesn't mean that I should give up my only decent method of transportation to my jobs because some drunk or meth head decided it was more convenient and faster to take my bike.

It doesn't help me to think of the thief, especially because he stole my bike. If he pilfered a few tomatoes out of the garden, I could rationalize that. But honestly, the bike wasn't really nice or anything--someone stole it because they felt they were entitled, and that really gets me.

Either way, now I have a much uglier early 80s bike to get around on for now until the temps drop and I have to shovel money into a gas tank for the winter, so it's not all bad, but I still don't think it's right any more than it's right for someone to knock out the Dude and take HIS rug. Am I wrong?

Well dude, I guess it could be said that a little pee must fall on everyone's rug a few times in our lives. A wiser man than myself once said "tough times don't last, but tough people do." Or as the Stranger once said "sometimes you eat the bar, and sometimes the bar eats you."

My advice; continue to abide, dude.
