Oh man. I thought it was me. I installed Konqeror browser since Firefox 4 has occasional lockups.
I went to this site and it was not working so I uninstalled konqueror.
No biggie. Tried chrome and it seems to be working nice on linux.

How's the Kurrent Konqueror, Komrade?  I haven't used KDE in, like, years;  I'm shamefully lazy, and have been using Ubuntu, so I just roll with the whole default Gnome thing.  No Gnews is Good Gnews?  Wow.  Great Space Coaster flashbacks.

I have a friend who keeps trying to sell me on Chrome, but I can't really get over the whole google-as-massive-supernational-conglomerate thing.  I shit you not, they're going to have their own super-city-state when everything goes all Stephenson in a few years or so.  Diamond Age, here we come.

Still using FF 3.whatever on my linux box... hmm.. I haven't broken anything on it in a good little while.  I'm a bad geek :(

I'm using open Suse. I hadn't used linux in some time and I can say that KDE has gone downhill.
Sort of figures since Suse had such a close tie with the QT toolkit (the basis for KDE) and Suse got bought by Novell. The core developers seem to have moved on.
Actually I'm running Gnome but now it sort of just blurs into one. You can run Gnome WM and run kde apps in it. I tried KDE window manager and it has gone bad since I last used it.

Konqueror blows. I gave it a try and it was not good. It does not thread nicely. Looking at the processes it spawns in System monitor it seems to spawn a bunch of threads marked as "uninterruptible" that are all io reads. When it locks up they just sit there and absorb every bit of memory and cpu till the system is almost locked up. Just horrible. Firefox 4 has had occasional issue. I tried Chrome just for the heck of it and it seems to be the best of the bunch. I didn't like it on windows but that was some time ago.

Google hasn't creep'ed me out as much as Microshaft always did but the news that they were collecting data about wireless networks while cruising around taking pics for street view is a bit troubling.
I wouldn't be using Chrome if the others worked better.

Thanks dude...I lucked out.
last night I couldn't log on at all, just got some kind of text message about the forum time or something. The forumdude got the host to fix it so the web site would at least open and i could poke about here and there, but none of the post would open directly. I could get in through the View the Most Recent Posts, but it didn't look as if anyone else could.
Once I was able to log on to the Admin functions I just poked about till something clicked. We had over 11,000 pages of error logs and it looked as if most of them were from the past 2 days!

I would still like to know why I cannot delete that one post by digitalbuddha on the Japan reactor?

i wouldn't recommend posting at the rug - that installation is fucked. i'm going to take it down soon and put up a new one. it would be nice if we could port this forum over to boonex (the rug runs on that) but it might be a nightmare. i'm looking into it though.
I'll tell you what I'm blathering about...
