So, because I'm an asshat, I made a flippant response to DB's perfectly reasonable repost of a BBC report about all the "Oh, FUCK" going down at Fukushima Daichi.

I had a quick look around the ol' internet for pictorial supplementation to the above asshattery, which I ended up not using, but it brought me this:





which is, of course, kinda awesome.

The thing that really caught my interest, though, was that the guy who posted this, along with a dozen or so other Sheppard Fairey (sp?) "Hope" poster spoofs _{(If more'n one "hoof" are "hooves," why isn't it "spooves?" Oh. Now I've said it aloud in my head, I know why.)} also had this:



with this comment:
"I think I'm pretty pop culture savvy, but I don't get this one at all. I know that's the late, lamented Andre the Giant. But what's the posse?"

Even setting aside for the moment the question of why on Earth would he lament Andre the Giant, wow, man.   I, like, never barely go outside if I can avoid it (urban hermit) and even _I_ knew "Andre the Giant has a posse."  For cryin' out loud, _he's_ the one commenting on the guy's meme's proliferation, and he describes himself as "pop-culture savvy."  *sigh*

(Just in case you didn't know, it's from another Fairey (still sp?) thing, from like twelve years ago, and you can still see the stencils and stickers around, which I approve of.)
