Hey Dudes,

Is there much of a Dudeist following in England. I've been a Dudeist for many a year now but I've been a lone spirit and thought I'd branch out.

I was interested in knowing how the UK government saw Dudeism, like, do they recognise it or not? If they dont then, ya' know, that's like, just their opinion man so fuck it. Still, this is one Dude who would like know so you know, just, yeah man.

Simple answer to your question is no, they don't recognise it. It actually takes an act of parliament to make a religion "recognised" under english law. Not the farce in the last census where everyone was saying put down "jedi" as your religion and they have to recognise it, not true, they don't.

Tend to rely on the provisions of the european court of human rights and section eight (I think it is) of the european Human rights treaty.

We keep trying to organise local leagues to meet in the UK, the south coast regional met a few times (basically Portsmouth and other areas close by) but suffered from a lack of motivation (we met a few times which was nice but haven't had time to organise anything else).

Would like to try to organise a London League meeting some time, not a lebowski fest, just a meet and a few pints. I think the last time we got together was when Oliver did the Idler a while back.

I'm pretty new to the forum too but there seems to be quite a few Brits around.

I hail from East Sussex myself, Kickin' back in sunny old Hastings. Pretty chilled place for a dude to hand but they took away the bowling alley recently. Major bummer.
