Is The Church of the Latter-Day Dude a registered charity? Just curious (in the UK a Church would be registered and have their own number for donation and tax revue purposes); I don't know how it works, Stateside. If not, is the option being mulled-over?

forumdude

technically the church is not yet a registered non-profit charity. there are pluses and minuses to doing so (pro: don't pay tax! con: a lot of work and bureaucracy). but rest assured that the fundamental freedom of religion and separation of church and state in the US makes it kosher for any organization of like minded believers to consider themselves a church. given our numbers and the enthusiasm of our congregants there's no room for doubt. however you never know with human paraquats - which is why we are indeed planning at some point to go official. almost surely later this year. but the process can take a year to get wrapped up.
I'll tell you what I'm blathering about...

If we go official, does that mean I can use a tax exempt letter to buy all the ingredients for a white russian?  It is sacred after all.
From what is Dudeism trying to liberate us?Thinking that's too uptight.

To what state of being is Dudeism trying to bring us? Just taking it easy, man.

By what means does Dudeism attempt do this? Abiding.

Okay, Duder - thanks for the quick response.

As to White Russians - my brain has finally acknowledged that they give me a bad gut-ache; as yet don't know if its the Kahlua or half and half (don't wanna find out). Bummer man.

Rev. Gary (revgms)

Unfortunately, Caucasians (and any alcohol) turn me into a pornographer, very undude. But it's okay, I'm on a strict drug regime, to you know, keep my mind limber.

Still, cheers to my friends who stay Dude while drinking.

I look forward to this year, I think Dudeism is going to have a really good one, there are so many cool Dudes who achieve in an abiding fashion here.

Cheers Dudes.

I think it's the half and half that gets to most people.  I've heard of some people substituting Baileys for the half and half and getting ok (albeit more alcoholic) results.  My dudely friend Heather tends to add soda and turn it from a WR to a colorado bulldog.

Duly noted, Trip Dude - thanks for the tip (I find Baileys a little bit sickly - but who knows, might be worth a try)  ;D

I hear ya! Last time I was enjoying it I paid the price. I used whole milk which I drink every day, so I guess it's not it. Maybe it's the combination of ingridients that gets me. That's a bummer man, as I really like it. On the other hand I usually prefer to do some J, so it's not all that bad.
The Dude abides. I don't know about you but I take comfort in that. It's good knowin' he's out there. The Dude. Takin' 'er easy for all us sinners.

Yeah, don't really bother with alcohol (the odd English oat soda - and as I said I have tried Caucasians) and as to herb, well I have two kids now (suddenly in my late 40s) and I have to pay fuckin' attention. So, maybe once or twice a year if the kids are on a sleep-over at grandparents or some such. It's cool, though - a lifetime of serious slacking behind me, I ain't complaining.   8)

Is there no such thing as coincidence?, just today while standing out in my woods, I thought about the same issue of the legality/unique practices/obligationnss, etc. that will be recognized by the elected administrators of our laws and regulatons. Whether it be caucasions or doing a J or officiating a function in the name of DUDEISM. Those ssame acts in the nnamee of.......innsert any religion, go unnquestioned aannd  yes  tax deductible. Thouugh the money is not the whole point. Recognition! I read in thee most recent  Legion magaazine... keyboard iis seizing up...that the military is hassling and restricting the use of native ammerican recruits homegrrownn tobacco, not pot, but a non chemical laden natural  tobacco that has spiritual qualities from and for its use. The issue iss deepeer than I briefly describe, and the  Americann Indian took  aa stand and got recognition aand aacdeptancee of  thaat elemeent of their religion. To overcome  the ignraance of that importaant element of their spirituality. Will  continue later, durn lost my traainn of thought with this fucking keyboaard frying in fronnt of me.. Fuck it. life goess on, right.
