A dude-like world? Universal dudeism possible?

Was just thinking what the world would be like if everyone was a dude. To be sure, all the world would not have to be dudes, but what if the was a strong pyridine shift toward dudeism as a world wide philosophy?

What if all of the representatives to the UN, or the EU, or the US congress, or the UK's parliament were dudes and dudettes? What if the Vatican, the leaders of China, North Korea, the Mafia, the CIA, and other organizations were dudes?

What if universal dudeism (more or less) was the way people were?

Example; the UN declares "All UN decisions will be made while keeping dudeism in mind. Those are the fucking rules!" The UN charter would be the UNcompromised First Draft. Fucking eh.

I'm thinking that aliens would visit Earth and be amazed that "almost every life form on this fucking planet is a dude! It really ties the planet together."

What do dudes on this forum think? What's like your opinion, man? Universal dudeism?

Like dude, that is what the Do No Harm movement is all about.

From: http://donoharm.us

DO NO HARM!

We seem to be living in a world that is getting less hospitable every day. Look closely at any endeavor our species has engaged in and it appears we are unaware of the harm we do, we ignore the harm we do, we intentionally do harm for our own gain, or sadly in some cases we do harm for our own pleasure and enjoyment.

Has no one taught us to do no harm?

If we haven't been taught to do no harm, we see no harm in doing harm. We cause harm and shrug it off. We cause harm and laugh about it. We cause harm and brag about it.

Sadder still, our children bear witness to our actions and never learn to do no harm themselves. Above all else we must teach our children, by example and instruction, this basic moral principle of life.

We must begin to make better choices and treat each other, the other creatures who share this planet with us, and this planet we call home with greater respect and compassion.

We believe that the first and most basic moral law is, "Do no harm." Because we can feel pain and suffering, we can imagine the pain and suffering of others, and we can act accordingly to minimize the harm we cause.

What does "do no harm" mean? Ultimately it means to give thoughtful consideration to our actions. ?Do no harm? simply means to consider how our actions may affect the world we all share, to be compassionate in our dealings with all creatures, and not to thoughtlessly despoil our planet.

Doctors are asked to ?first do no harm,? why not lawyers, businessmen, religious leaders and politicians? Why not us? Why not now?

It sounds like a simple idea because it is a simple idea, but it may be effective over the long run. Will ?do no harm? solve all the problems in our world? Perhaps not, but this is an effort to decrease the suffering in the world and to increase the kindness.

We hope that ?do no harm? becomes that little voice that guides our actions.

And we hope you will join us and spread the message "Do no harm."

Show everyone you care and use ?Do no harm? to sign-off in your correspondence in place of "Best Wishes", "Yours" or "Regards."

If you have a web site, be proud of your support and add the words ?Do No Harm? to the top of your home page where everyone will see it.

Be bold and creative in thinking of ways to expose as many as possible to the ?Do No Harm? message, but please, do no harm in doing so.

It is not necessary to mention the source of the message. This is certainly a case where the message is far more important than the messengers. All we ask is that you practice do no harm and take every opportunity to share the words "do no harm" with others.

If you wish to include this essay or link to the ?Do No Harm? web page, please do; or if you wish to change the wording or write your own, that's equally OK with us. If we are to change our world for the better, we simply must share the ?Do No Harm? message with family and friends, with neighbors and our community.

You can add a comment , or if you wish, send us your own thoughts or reflections and we will add them to this web site.

Sometimes, all you really need to do is ask:

Please . . .  do no harm!

Have you ever seen the film Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey?

There is a sliver of what dudeism might be like in the future in the starting part of the film.

As for doing no harm...It's a tough world, and even if we were all looking to benefit each other, human instincts will continual prevail until we evolve. For instance, love and sex will always be the grand instigator. Tribes in Austrailia I believe are some of the most peaceful people, but they still have been known to kill over love.

Unless you somehow could make a system to control that, so that all dudes and dudettes are created almost identically, and paired, and all sorts of technological crap thats way beyond us and probably not very dudely in the first place.

No, unfortunately, there will always be some harm, but it's learning to grow and move on from the suffering that is what makes a dude is it not? To push away the harm, and embrace whatever good you can. In fact...I would go as far as to say you cannot be a dude without harm being done to you in some way originally.

You can't have positive without negative, it doesn't work like that. If everything was a grey area, and neutraility reinged supreme...I don't know what you would have, but it wouldn't be much.

We are made to learn, grow and evolve. But spreading the message do no harm, is good too.

haha!
You're damned if you dude, you're damned if you don't.

Actually very little would get done. But then no one would get stressed about it though.

Sorry cc been running up against "and DO NO HARM!" for many years now ever since the Wiccan and with then major proportions of the Pagan community adopted it as their flag to wave.

I don't see life in such simple terms. A fine sentiment for a Buddhist monk in a temple to follow, but life is full of people who are dead set on using and abusing you whatever way they can.

I believe a Dude should hold back from committing violence as and when they can.

But if you take it to an extreme level does this mean we shouldn't eat meat (no harm to cows and pigs), not eat vegetables (no harm to plant life "keep off the grass"), not attack germs and virus's (no harm to bacteria).

If these are ridiculous (meaning no insult to your own point of view) where do you place your line of not doing harm?

No harm to those who don't harm us (more sensible in my opinion)?

No harm to those who do harm us (less sensible in my opinion)?

Now yes if everyone was to do no harm (within reasonable boundaries of allowing choice as to vegetarianism), then it would be fine, but until we have conquered greed and poverty, and undermined the hated capitalist ethic, I think you are going to have a problem.

All in the best possible taste!

(IMHO).

I have a wish.

Will it embed?
<iframe title="YouTube video player" class="youtube-player" type="text/html" width="480" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/q3Xy8YaJH5U?rel=0" frameborder="0"></iframe>

I have a wish.

I wish to live in a kinder and more compassionate world.

We can philosophize and meditate about what do no harm means, and delve ever
deeper into the essence of doing no harm, but the simple truth is, all that
philosophy and meditation, all that searching for the essence, means little
without a kind and compassionate world to practice in.

If we are to create a kinder and more compassionate world, our simple
message of "do no harm" must make its way into the hearts and minds of those who
need it the most - all 7 billion of us

I have many friends of all different religions, beliefs, backgrounds,
politics, social status and just about any other diversity you care to think of.
When we get together, we do so as friends, and we enjoy each others company in
spite of everything else. Yeah, we argue a bit, but we all respect each other
and our differences. In fact, I think it just may be our differences we
enjoy about each other most.

But one thing we all know; if one falls down, the rest will extend a helping
hand. If one is under duress, we all will come to their rescue.

We know and trust each other not to take advantage, or do any harm.

That is the kind of world we should and must have.

In that kind of world doing no harm is not a hard thing to do, it's not
something we even have to think about, it just comes naturally, in fact, in a world
of friends doing no harm is easy.

We need a world of 7 billion friends.

Thank you for being one of them!

Very close to the Buddhist idea that we each live in our own reality. All reality is projected from within.

Oh no another common thread in Dudeists (well me anyway).

Overweight, credit score from Hell, (happily) divorced, though I do still have a job at the moment.
