Well...

I just lost my job, and it couldn't have happened at a worse time, obviously with the holidays around the corner.

Turns out, not having a "I want to be at work all the time" attitude isn't what they're looking for these days.

When your boss asks you to stay late, after you've already put in 8 hours, even if he knows you have plans, you told him those plans, and cannot break those plans, if you refuse to work past your scheduled time you might get this response:

"There's always something with you, it's like you don't even want to work! Yea, Go, and don't come back!"

Even if there never has been a "something" before, rest assured, they will find a something, anything, to put back bone into their temper tantrum when they don't get their way.

Well at first I was kinda pissed, but I realized it's better to enjoy the journey for whatever it is, and try and find somewhere else that isn't operated by stressful plaque clots like him.

Looks like it's back to the hardest, worst paying, most hated job of all. Looking for a job!

You're damned if you dude, you're damned if you don't.

Bummer - (my 'Americanisms' are coming along nicely), Dude - fuckin' fascist boss, hope your search is fruitful.

that sounds an awful lot like me (certain weeks of the month).

well, fuck the muthahfuckah! get your unemployment and kick it for a minute or two (that's all i could afford last year in the great california teacher massacre).

when you find something better, hopefully you won't have to wear stupid fancy office pants with 3 buttons like i do now... every freakin' day is halloween.
::)

GOOS peace!

Sounds like it was time to move on. If yer boss knew you had plans and then asked you to stay late and canned you when you didn't, it's pretty clear he was messing with you. And it was just a matter of time.

Yeah, I got canned in August for something that wasn't even my fault.  I still haven't found a job but took the opportunity to go back to school (online, perfect for slacking).  I was in a shit job anyway.  Now, I'm getting my Master's in Teaching.  I can spread the gospel of The Dude and get paid for it.  Not such a bad turn of events after all I guess...
"New shit has come to light."  I'm just not privy to it....

Abideist

I would love to go back to school, but I have no cash. I've been trying like hell to get hired ANYWHERE, but so far nada.  Good luck.

Uberdude

Yeah, no cash here either.  Student loans which I'm sure I will regret later since I'm still paying off my undergrad loans from, like, 13 years ago.  Whatever...They can't get it from me after I'm dead, right?  : )

Well,  if you can pull it off stress free more power to ya. I doubt people would leave you alone if you owed them tuition, probably be knocking on your door.

And you can't tell your kid to shoot trespassers these days...the facists who run everything have laws to send kids to guantanamo now.

Yep,
Been there, done that.   >:(

But, after I lost my last job, I went to work for myself. ;D  I turned a hobby, into my job.  The first four years I was a very broke dude.  But I was as happy as I ever had been in my life. 8)
Now I am even happier, as I do what I love for a living, and don't have to listen to a boss.

BBQ anyone?

;D
