Ok, a bit behind the times here, just saw it over the weekend.  Lots of seemingly TBL refernces in my opinion, man.  Movie opens with the first gig in a bowling alley, band plays on what looks like the Dude's rug and plenty more.

Actually man I found/thought the same thing about "surfs up" when I watched Big Z pissing on mav's leg. I mean man the Big Z is a carbon copy of the Dude.
