Hey I'm new here.  After reading through the 'Great Dudes in History,' I immediately felt Bob Ross would fit the criteria.

Bob spent 20 years in the U.S. Airforce to leave it with an affinity for painting and a vow to "never scream again."

I'm new here too, but I'd have to say I agree. The guy even looks a bit like the Dude with a fro.
