The Lennon

My nickname came from when I attended community college in my city. I was at an acting improvisational class and we all had to choose a name and a hook that fit us. And we would be known as that for the rest of the semester. The name Lennon came to me so it stuck, now people far and wide know me as The Lennon.
I've also been told that I emulate John Lennon because of my peaceful ideas, philosophical attitude, and over all demeanor for being out of the ordinary and stepping up to the plate of helping the world.

And... I liked to wear round sunglasses a lot, which is what John Lennon always wore.
To be dude is both a philosophy and a way of life.

Mine is taken by mixing together the facts that I'm a Dudeist Priest=Monk and that Great Spirit is another name for Tao, plus the fact that I like Native Americans culture, if that's the correct nomenclature.

Have a great weekend Brother Shamuses!  8)
I believe that Native American is the least insulting, I too have enjoyed reading books on their history, with a mind that they're not a dead culture,  and had the honour of communicating on a news group from which I learnt much, particulary on issues we don't hear about and have just enjoyed sharing conversation.
Hopefully with Obama, as a democrat, there will be progress in discusson, as historically I was told with democrats in office there is a more open view towards improving relations and living conditions.
you too have a great weekend ;D
It's a brave person who slacks when there's plenty to do.

Robert the Dude

Those are some interesting back stories dudes.

My first name was pretty self explanatory. This name is, among other things, a tip of the hat to some historical, well not dudes, exactly, but, what's a dude, anyway? Kinda lost my train of thought there.

Anyway, Robert, Duke of Normandy, and Robert the Bruce, King of Scots, and our own immortal Jeff The Dude Lebowski. Not that they are related necessarily, just adding a few more flavours to our postilion potpourri.

My grandfather was Cherokee.

Rev.Wendy aka The Dude a-Rides

I've been a writer since I was like, 8.
In my teens I decided that no way would i ever take my future husband's last name, unless it went real cool with "Wendy". (my first name)
The best example I could come up with at the time, was , Wendy Whiteheart.
Shortly after I took it as a pen name and use it to this day...usually just the last name part for anonymity.
"Is this a.....what day is this?"

Zen Dog

Well I joined the ULC UK some time ago and when looking for a handle I came across the ZEN DOG
picture 'He knows not where he's going, the ocean will decide. It's not the destination,it's the glory of the ride.
I've been described as being very laid back which is probably polite for 'lazy bastard'.
And being solar sensitive I'm never without sunglasses.
And um....damn, I'm out of kahlua.
If you believe you can tell me what to think.
I believe I can tell you where to go.

Chrispy

Well, my name's Chris.  One day a friend of mine came out with Chrispy, and it stuck.  It's been my adopted name ever since, most people outside of my family call me Chrispy, even other people's mums.

Rev, I also use the Zen Dog moniker when Chrispy isn't available, that same friend bought me a birthday card one year with the same poem on it, and even had a Zen Dog badge. :)

cakebelly

Years ago, whilst mooching around the kitchen of a shared student house (UK - ex-pat) a fellow resident accused yours truly of developing a beer-belly. Outraged (I rarely imbibed alcohol at the time; preferring, instead, to commune with Rizla,  Roach and Herb), my hands cupped my belly protectively and I loudly declared: "This isn't a beer-belly, this is a cake-belly" - for that was/is the truth. The name stuck.

Rev. Dudeski

I chose my name because I used to call my oat sodas "brewski's" and I just thought Dudeski fit my style :)
