I guess I've never posted up why I use the handle I do, but...

I've had handles in various forums/games I've played online, and I didn't feel like using one of those here.  I felt like here I needed to just be, well, myself, in name as well as spirit.

Where my full name is 28 letters long:  Edward Richard Harold Churchman, I've always liked to crunch it down to just Ed.  Brevity on high :)  Or Take my R and H and quish it on to make Rhed (which is commonly take in popular places, so becomes rhed_c.

So, I like to go by my two-letter handle, nice and simple, Ed.  However, just because I don't wanna manolopise Rev. Ed from all the other Rev. Eds in the world, once again, for the Forum, I added in C, just to leave the market open for my like-named compeers :)

But, you know, you can just call me Ed 8)
But, like wow... edward richard harold churchman must look so good on paper...  ;D

You'd think.  I am a little pretentious about it in real life.  I tend to use my full initials a lot.  My bank card says E R H Churchman, and my email address is ed.r.h.churchman@

I have enough names to make me unique when I need to be, but to people who know me, two letter is all you need :)

I got Christened, but in my family church a full Baptism was a choice you made as a teenager.  By that time I'd decided Christianity wasn't for me, so I never made the literal plunge.  But one of our nice easy-going ministers did trickle a little water over my head and blessed my name as a wee babe.

True Baptism is a choice, just like Delmar makes in O Brother Where Art Thou.  Never think you've been baptised against your will, not even the fascists can do that :P

I've never had a beef with my Christening, as it doesn't mean anything to me, so I don't let it bother me.  It meant something to my parents at the time (more than it would today, I'm sure), and that's all that matters to me.

It's Industrial Strength in my area and especially in my family. I got a Born Again, Jesus Cracker Carrying, pray for your soul sister and a fundamentalist conservative tea bag brother. They take their Religion Seriously.
I cannot exit my door without running into a Christian here...hell they even start the bowling league banquets with a prayer service...I don't go because of it.
I could tell you stories dude...that's why I'm so reactionary when it come to Christians...8)

Man, I didn't realise you had it so bad.  Must be claustrophobic with all that around you, and the paranoia that comes with such intrinsic judgement...

Move to the UK, we've tamed our Chritistians :)

Right, right, Brandi...

Brandy the Bruce?  Aye, a stout and noble fellow he was! ;)

Apparently I was close being named Edmund, but a friend of my father's in the Anglo Saxon reinactment society beat him to it.  Still, wouldn't change the name I use any, I'm sure!

I've know several people who don't like their first name, so go by their middle name.  We have that choice, at least :)

Well, after all that, I guess I need to explain my new forum name.

Twobands is a bit of an old story, but it comes from a combination of something personal and an old live roleplay game we used to attended monthly in London.

Good old live Vampire: the Masquerade, standing around in privately hired London pubs, roleplaying as vampires... ahh, memories.  Still, I had one short-lived character who was a bit of an urban urchin of the Gangrel clan, who are more in touch with their animalistic side.  He slept rough, he looked rough and he didn't speak.  A suggested name for me, by others, was Twobands, because of the two bands I have around my wrist.

I used to have a couple of leather, tribalistic looking bands attached permanently around my wrist, but they died a death after a long while from too many soapy showers ;D  So to replace them I made my own from purloined fishing wire I pinched from the CDT labs at school (I still have most of it!) and some old, handmedown little beads.

Threaded on they have a unique pattern made of red, black and yellow beards and the fishing wire is then tied on and sealed with a little glue that melts and fuses it together.  And so they stay on my left wrist permanently.  They're actually a good measure of me putting on weight, because if they get tight and immovable, I know its time to cut down on  my snacks :)

And that is the legend of Twobands, the fictitious character and the online alterego that I only really use for Xbox Live... and now here!

My handle is a nickname applied to me by my Dad when I was little.  Apparently I left disaster area quality messes in my wake everywhere I went and was as loud as a tornado.
