I for one, did absolutely nothing. Been "smoking, drinking and wasting time", as a wiser fella then myself once said!
Last week we went bowling, so this week, we're out of money (it's realy expencive in the Netherlands)...
Another caucasian, Gary!

The Murfman chills today...

while The Dude abides.

I went bowling with some friends, mellowed out, did some meditation in a bathtub. And what's funny was that was the sabbath day, the jewish day of rest that same day.
I chilled.
To be dude is both a philosophy and a way of life.

Fuck man, I forgot!! It was Shomer Shabbas that day! We weren't supposed to be rolling!!!

The Day was a rip-roaring success.

Three men, a modest pile of monkey chow, a bar and a waitress!

Here's the first of three pictures.  This is Meekon, taking a picture of Klaus, taking a picture of me, taking a picture of... ah, you get the idea...

I did mention this at our little gathering but thought the high religious significance of the event overruled any other consideration.

That's right Meek, I remember now.  We passed over it, much as we passed over the idea of bowling in that soul-sucking alley at all.

Plus, as Dudeists, we don't celebrate either Saturday or Sunday as the Sabbath day, that's a Zionist thing, man.  Why do you think the Dude rolls on a the Shabbos?  Because every day is a day of rest to him, and what better way to rest than to roll?

The Walter character was so torn, not by religious belief, but by religious practice that it turned his life upside down.  No Dude would ever let that happen to him, even with regards to such minor practices such as Day of the Dude.

The Dude will not abide another enforced religious observation, man! ;)

The dude will follow whatever he feels necessary during that day. Whether it is interrogating young children, bowling, or choosing to honor the sabbath day. Taking er' easy has to do with living in the moment. If the dude so feels to practice religion he will do so, as any other Dude who chooses to practice Shabbas.
Chalk it up to some eastern thing.

That's true, but I was really only inferring to enforced observances. It's a Dude's right and privilage to do as he sees fit without feeling he must, he must, he must, unlike someone like Walter who's confined by practice, not belief.  It's the uptight way to spend a holy day 8)
