social media marketing company

From smoke signals to WiFi signals, horseback messenger to Facebook messenger, we have always wanted to communicate as quickly and efficiently as possible. But there's a problem.

Yeah, the problem is annoying-ass online marketing.

Anytime I'm reading a webpage and one of those drop-down overlays takes over the whole page to advertise something, I exit immediately and don't return. I also make a mental note to never buy the product. Same thing if the ads make my screen appear to vibrate, make it hard to click them off, or have sound.

So,yeah, you won't ever see me in Circuit City, buying a LG anything.

This form of communication does much to divide people as unite them.
The very nature of those pages enforces a social divide.
Consumer and provider.
It so ubiquitous that it effects peoples self image and the way they perceive their place in society.
For example.
I was watching a government lawyer defending the NSA surveillance programs the other day on TV.
He was pointing out that these programs are legal because they went through congress.
I'm just amazed that nobody points out the inherent ridiculousness of this.
The Government is allowed to conduct surveillance on US citizens without providing cause because the same government passed a law making it legal.
I understand that it was elected representatives that passed the law but now that it is out in the open and the reaction of the people is pretty much universal outrage I'd say the argument that it is the result of representation becomes pretty ridiculous.
Our experience as consumers goes to how we have come to perceive our relationship to government and society overall.
It creates deep divide.
Most people's place in consumer culture is passive.
The entire experience creates a divide between we everyday consumers and the "providers" which people generally treat the government as.
If we stuck to smoke signals we'd probably be better off.
I make my living in Information technology but having gotten a bit grey around the edges I've had enough life to sort of see an arc I can say that I fucking hate the digital age. It killed rock and roll. It is close to killing movie theaters and any movie industry worth while. It has fractured society and provided echo chambers for increasingly entrenched irrational beliefs. And it has killed real news and replaced it with corporate owned propaganda.
On and on.
But there is free porn. So there's that.

I'm sorry what was the question?
Oh yeah social media.
I just think that kids are in for a big surprise when they find out that every single thing that they post on social media ends up on their "permanent record", effecting their credit, insurance costs, employment and basically everything. It's all getting aggregated and categorized and it's up for sale.
And where most of the stupid stuff that we do when we are in our teens  goes away, (Like arrests for stupid crap. An incident with some sky rockets from an overpass comes to mind for me) there are no laws protecting kids from this stuff lasting forever.

I hear ya. But I'm not sure these whipper-snappers care. They've embraced technological omnipresence - sacrificing a centuries old western tradition of personal privacy for the cheap and easy ego-high offered by social media. It's a fool's bargain, to be sure, but one that millions of people make billions of times each day.

I don't think they have actually made a choice. They are marching through life docile as Buddhist cows. Everything is about talk.  Gen y declares themselves the first socially conscious generation and Apple becomes the largest company in the world selling them products made with slave labor.(for all intents and purposes) But as long as you tweat things you get to feel good. Belief has become interchangeable with identity. Like fashion accessories.
Earlier generations knew the wolf was a the door. Today he'll need to bite them on the ass before they get it. I'm just not sure people percieve the danger.

Social media marketing (SMM) is the use of social media—the platforms on which users build social networks and share information—to build a company's brand, increase sales, and drive website traffic. Basically I work with the social media marketing experts in Web design slash firm.
