My Mother... she dug the Dude
« on: April 25, 2016, 05:16:43 PM »
I am currently sitting next to my mother... she is unaware I am here and being kept alive by every means possible. We have a DNR now... no point in delaying the inevitable only to experience pain.

She was actually very proud to hear about my involvement with Dudeism. When I shared the basic concept... and yes even that it was outside the scope of and unconcerned with things such as God/Deities, TOE's,  etc... She could see the value in people of any faith truly concerned with the wellbeing of others being better off a bit more Dude-like.

Even though anyone can be 'ordained' she said... "You can really make something out of it... as much as you put in... even if you only help others with Dudeism and nothing else... the world's a better place. I am proud of you."

You were a good mom... RIP.

So sorry to hear of your loss, dude. Mothers are incredible people--able to shape our lives whether they are near or far from us. *internet hug*

My most sincere condolences ChristianDude.
I don't go to church on Sunday
Don't get on my knees to pray
Don't memorize the books of the Bible
I got my own special way

Thank you for the condolences.

I shared TBL with my sister tonight to lighten her up. She is 30 but is kind of stuck at teenager due to mental illness. She loved it! She was recently released for the hospital and jail with hopes of further progress in her mental health and life with our mom. I will be taking her in and seeing she gets the help she needs and a home when she finishes.

TBL really did give some great content to some life lessons and even some light hearted directly relatable scenes. I am handling all the arrangements... so the scene at the funeral home was right on (she didn't leave much)... followed by a great example of why my mom was against being scattered:) My frik'n brother is Walter incarnate... no shit... Light Infantry... militant zealot 😕

I think a lot of people who have never dealt with making such arrangements would be surprised by how quickly funerary costs can add up.  My wife and I never had children, so I've told everyone who might be responsible for disposing of my dead carcass to do so in the least expensive and least problematic way possible.

I am very touched by this dude's remembrance of his mother.  As it is soon the anniversary of my mother's passing (Nov 30th) I too am remembering a great woman.  Having reared three children myself, I have so much respect for the way she loved and supported all eight of us!  A most patient and abiding person, she was.  Bless her soul, peace be with her and all the loved ones who have gone before.  As regards cremation, scattering of ashes etc, somehow to me burial seems more dignified and respectful. My mum and I have always been  earthy people, loving flowers, plants and trees.  I will be happy if my old carcass is laid down and becomes part of the cycle of growth.
