This will not stand

OK so I went to the site of the original 1969 Woodstock concert this weeked.
(Saw Lynyrd Skynyrd and Marshall Tucker band.)
But the thing is a Dude can not help but notice is how "unWoodstock" the whole place is. IMO of course.
There was a remarkably large contingent of cops on hand.
I mean swarming with cops. When you leave you actually walk through a gauntlet of cops on both sides. It really makes the hair on the back of the Dude's neck stand up. Very creepy.
And after we left a cop car pulled out and shadowed us for several miles.
We were on motorcycles. The cops really just seemed to be itching for trouble.
The whole vibe was less Woodstock than any other concert I have ever been to and it's on the site of the Woodstock concert which they clearly capitalize on.
In particular $8 for an 8 ounce domestic beer ($10 or $12 for imports).
Some things just make a Dude say "this will not stand".
I know everybody has to feed the monkey and it costs a lot to put on concerts and what have you but this really smacks of crass commercialism and opportunism.
A captive audience with one source for Barley Pop. So they stick it in and twist.
So very "unWoodstock" of them.
I mean they go out owing money all over town and then they pee on my rug?
These strumpets!
They also don't allow lawn chairs but then they will gladly rent you a lawn chair for $6 a pop.
Which is not unreasonable I suppose but again it's so transparent.
Fakes! Fucking Goldbrickers!
You can just hear them metaphorically yelling "The bums lost. Your revolution is over Mr Lebowski! The Bums will always lose!"

...And after we left a cop car pulled out and shadowed us for several miles.
We were on motorcycles. The cops really just seemed to be itching for trouble...

Some time around 1980 a group of friends and I gathered at a bar just outside of downtown Los Angeles.  This place was like a German Oktoberfest pub that had somehow been transported to L.A.--German beer served in TALL glasses, attractive female servers, and a guy named Helmut playing an accordion (he was a bit of a local legend at the time).  It was a cool place to hang out, and we were there for three to four hours.  When we left, a Los Angeles Police Department cruiser followed us as we made our way to the nearest freeway.  After a few miles the officers in the cruiser apparently realized I wasn't drunk and started to turn around to go back to the pub to lay in wait for their next victim, but suddenly aborted that plan, turned on the roof lights, roared up behind us, and began yelling over the car's P.A. system for me to pull over.  By the time one of the officers arrived at the driver's window of my car I had instructed the two friends in the car with me to keep their hands in sight and to not fuck around because I could tell from the officer's body language that he had attitude with a capital "A".  Sure enough, the officer shouted all of his instructions at me, then proceeded to spend about 15 minutes angrily inspecting my car for violations when it became obvious to him that he wouldn't be able to "get me" for drunk driving.  In the end, he drove away furious because a) we had "killed him with kindness" by following every one of his instructions and happily answering all of his questions, and b) because he could only write me a "fix it" ticket for a burned-out rear license plate light which, as it turned out, was the only excuse he had to pull us over in the first place.  Being the designated driver I'd only had one beer, and had finished that long before we left the pub; I'm not as dumb as I look.  8)

Several years later I heard a radio interview with a retired police officer.  I don't recall the exact quote, but it was something to the effect of, "You know those kids that got picked on all the way through school?  At least 50% of every police force I've worked on over the years was comprised of those people.  They got a little older and realized they could use the system to 'get back at' all of the bullies of the world, so they chose a career in law enforcement."  That kind of explains a lot.
I don't go to church on Sunday
Don't get on my knees to pray
Don't memorize the books of the Bible
I got my own special way

Well I don't know the cause.
I just know that police "attitude" seems to be at an all time high now adays.
It just seemed like they were itching to mess with some hippies big time.

You do indeed need to play nice or you are screwed.
It's like living in the soviet union.
Who raised these guys?
How do you end up not valuing freedom at all?
Strange and sad days.
