This is a quote from, Caspar Bowden, Microsoft's former chief privacy adviser.

Quote
"If you are not American, you cannot trust U.S. software services."

Quote
Microsoft former chief privacy adviser Caspar Bowden has said for years that he does not trust Microsoft as a company, nor does he trust its software. If a privacy expert who previously worked for Microsoft can’t trust the company, should we? Well at the 31st Chaos Communication Congress (31C3), Bowden presented The Cloud Conspiracy 2008 – 2014.

A very interesting article on "The Cloud Conspiracy".

Just feeding your paranoia there Dudes.

;D

Oh and don't you US Dudes all sit back looking smug. Read some of the documents and comments he has made about cloud services and how the NSA are able to scan them not just for legal info but commercial as well.

Micro$oft do not trust them with your data.

Nothing ever changes.
Microsoft have been Paraquat from the beginning.

As far as the concerns over FISA or whatever "protections" the law affords, forget it.
That only defines what is legal. Once the genie is out of the bottle it can't go back in.
Police departments routinely monitor cell phones with no legal right to do so.
Because the technology is there and relatively cheap. You can buy cell phone interceptors from a nearly unlimited number of sources.
http://www.spyequipmentguide.com/cellular-interceptor.html
And that's just every little backwoods police department. Imagine the capabilities of the NSA.
More disturbing is the fact that intercepting cell phone towers have begun to spring up at Military Bases.
http://blackbag.gawker.com/rogue-interceptor-cell-phone-towers-discovered-near-u-1630079351

Hell the NSA never had the legal right to be collecting the data that Snowden showed that they have been. They just do it and all the legislation in the world is not going to change a thing. The stage is getting set for some power hungry fuck to get into the top spot and bring the curtain down. Now how disturbing are all those "Dominionist" candidates that we keep seeing run for the Presidency. Backman, Perry,Huckibee and former VP candidate Sara Palin? Understand that they believe that establishing a theocracy is much more important than the constitution or any other concern. It is an openly stated goal of the dominionist movement that they all openly admit to being committed.

Quote
?Christians have an obligation, a mandate, a commission, a holy responsibility to reclaim the land for Jesus Christ-to have dominion in the civil structures, just as in every other aspect of life and godliness.

But it is dominion that we are after. Not just a voice.

It is dominion we are after. Not just influence.

It is dominion we are after. Not just equal time.

It is dominion we are after.

World conquest. That?s what Christ has commissioned us to accomplish. We must win the world with the power of the Gospel. And we must never settle for anything less.

If Jesus Christ is indeed Lord, as the Bible says, and if our commission is to bring the land into subjection to His Lordship, as the Bible says, then all our activities, all our witnessing, all our preaching, all our craftsmanship, all our stewardship, and all our political action will aim at nothing short of that sacred purpose.

Thus, Christian politics has as its primary intent the conquest of the land ? of men, families, institutions, bureaucracies, courts, and governments for the Kingdom of Christ. It is to reinstitute the authority of God?s Word as supreme over all judgments, over all legislation, over all declarations, constitutions, and confederations.?

The basic premise of dominion theology is that when Adam sinned, not only did man lose dominion over the earth, but God also lost control of the earth to Satan, and that Jesus CAN'T return until the Church takes over the world and there is a Theocracy.

When the American fascism gets here it's going to be a Church movement.
At least it will be sold that way. And this stuff has fully infiltrated into the US military and into the private armys like the former Blackwater. We are watching this unfold clearly.

"When Fascism comes to America it will be wrapped in the flag and carrying a cross." Attributed to Sinclair Lewis.

The part of this that, at the same time, makes me laugh and cringe is that these willing dupes on the religious right don't understand that what is coming about is not for the glory of God or preparing for the rapture or any of that other shit. It is being done for the benefit of the global elite and multi-national corporations. When the shit hits the fan they're gonna get some on them just like the rest of us.
But that's just, like, my opinion.

Yes. I believe the term is "Suckers".
They are "the brown shirts". The Nazi's capitalized on the discontent of the general populace and directed it for their own ends.
This is a well understood game plan. If people are miserable enough then all you need to do is cast your enemy as their enemy and they are useful.
It's always the same.

The other quote that comes to mind in this context is from Herman Goring.

Quote
G?ring: Why, of course, the people don't want war. Why would some poor slob on a farm want to risk his life in a war when the best that he can get out of it is to come back to his farm in one piece? Naturally, the common people don't want war; neither in Russia nor in England nor in America, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy or a fascist dictatorship or a Parliament or a Communist dictatorship.

Gilbert: There is one difference. In a democracy, the people have some say in the matter through their elected representatives, and in the United States only Congress can declare wars.

G?ring: Oh, that is all well and good, but, voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same way in any country.

This does not just apply to real war. It's a tendency to make everything a war of sorts.
I see that the "new conservatism" is all about defining an "enemy". Placing blame on some other group. No matter how ironic it is on face value people accept it.
For instance...
"The problem with the economy is not the group that controls the economy, it is the poor."
A child could see through this sort of thing. But people by and large are willing to place blame on those weaker than themselves and that tendency is always used to pit the general populace against one another rather than united. You see it all the time. Another instance of appealing to what people want to believe.

Me to. But you are still dependent on the net and when you make a call the phone companies.
We know the government has been collecting "metadata" on all calls and email for years. As if that excuses it. It of little solace that they don't collect the content. Just aggregating the info on who is connected to who is hugely powerful. And illegal.

Meh, Privacy, (like Security) is merely an illusion anymore.  The only true method of privacy is to unplug and steal away to a deserted island.

But not even then, 'cause satellites.  Eh, fuck it.  *Flashes her moon at space pervs*

Personally I love Linux (run Redhat and Ubuntu at home), but don't think that that is safe either.

I like to read about crypto and any kind of alternative OS but truth is - anything like that means you are leaving the comfy 'one mouse click' approach and have to do things different way. And here the 'least effort' principle appears. If I need to look for tutorials to enter any diacritics on Kali Linux, Windows wins (not the only distro I ran but this is one of the most obvious things). They taught you to use Micro$oft and it comes as a first thought. Well, at least I try to use some programs that will work on Linux too.
