eh, it's just a story I guess. These things happen all the time, every converted person is someone's daughter, mother, brother or other relative. I stopped blaming people for joining cults or radical movements because it's almost always the delicate brainwashers' work.
Well alright but is this sympathy because they are young, attractive and from a more "westernized" country?
In some ways I have less sympathy for them than for someone who grew up in a war torn region or in a society controlled by despots who become radicalized. Their parents are from Iraq. Ok another instance of violence begetting violence but I have to wonder if they have less of a claim to "brain washing" than people who live somewhere that they only hear lies and propaganda about western culture. It's tragic for sure but I think that kids who grow up knowing nothing but hatred and ignorance are 100 times more tragic. If we go down that road then most of ISIS and Al Qaeda have been "brain washed".
true words my friend. violence breeds violence and destruction is ALWAYS an easier path than creation. it's easier to make an enemy than to make a friend.
You've mentioned you grew up in a war torn region. If that's not too personal, where are you from, dude?
