Fargo TV show

First episode was last week. I personally thought it was good.
The diner scene is very very like a lot of the same themes as TBL.

First episode is streamable  here.

I've just watched it. It's on Chnl 4 here in the UK on Sunday and repeated tonight.

I think it's excellent so far! :)

Did you notice in the Diner they were having a special on white Russians! :)

As long as it wasn't two minutes thirty nine seconds in which goes to prove that the Coen brothers are trying to tell us that John 2:31 applies and this is another pearl of wisdom, which I refer you to my previous reference where I previously referred to a previous reference of my own reference, but this is only the first level.

I thought the cinematography was really sweet but, overall, didn't get into the first episode. I'm giving it a few episodes, though, and really want to like this.

Anyone else notice Billy Bob has the legs of a twelve-year-old anorexic girl?

It seems to be an affliction that hits aging rock stars if they live past 45.

I'm officially hooked.
Last night's episode was starting to bring the various strands together and it's moving toward a bloody outcome.

Not sure what to make of the blood from the shower. Not sure why the BB Thornton character did that.
But overall I'm liking the serial nature of it. Story building episode by episode like Breaking Bad and Justified.

I've somehow managed to set my Tivo up to record the previous weeks episode just before the new episode plays on Sunday, so I'm a week behind even for the UK.

So no real difference there then.

Is it me or have they dumbed down the Police woman that is investigating?

OK this makes sense.
I was very skeptical that the show was a  "true story".
Turns out that even the movie was not true according to the C Bro's.

Quote

Fargo was based on a true story, right?
Joel: No. It says it was a true story at the beginning, but it was actually all made up. We wanted to write a movie that was a "true story" sort of genre. We thought that if we did something where we told the audience up front was a true story, that they'd allow you to do things they wouldn't normally allow you to do, if they thought it was fiction. So it allowed us to introduce the heroine after 40 minutes without pissing people off. Or Fran's scene with the Japanese guy that doesn't seem to have anything to do with the plot. It'll make people more accepting if they're not prepped for a thriller. That way they'll be like "Well, it must've happened this way, 'cause it's true, right?"
