A Dudeist epiphany or just a random thought
« on: November 19, 2013, 08:38:25 AM »
Hey fellow Dudeists,

This is my first post here on the forum.
Today I had what I can only think of as an epiphany, or maybe just a random thought going on.

I work in the Film & TV industry as a set dresser, which I can safely say is a job full of people who are very un-dude.
So today when the running around and panic started up I found myself a mop & bucket and took off to clean the sets that were being used the following day.
Ordinarily this is a job that most people shy away from but I think it's a great job for a Dudeist. 20-30 mins of peace and quiet, alone with the monotonous task of mopping.
The task of mopping requires basically no thought which leaves the mind free to wander, and wonder.
So I dropped in to see what condition my condition was in...
It was as I made my way from room to room slowly and methodically cleaning that I suddenly realised that The dirt in one room, if left untouched, will someday be the dirt in all the other rooms

At the time it was a mind blowing revelation and I thought "that sounds a lot like something Lao Tzu may have said."
I guess it really just re-affirms that dudeitation can be carried out as part of daily life no matter where you are.

Anyway, looking forward to hearing what other Dudeists think and if anyone else has had a similar experience.

Since a stage can get covered in dust within minutes of being cleaned, it can't be normal dust.  I think the ghosts of past plays & actors slowly turn to dust as we forget them.  Since we add new ghosts with every performance, there's never a shortage of dust and as the building gets older there's actually more dust every day.

I've been a janitor in the past and it truly is a job I recommend for those who want to think on their own time and take it easy while we are obliged to be somewhere for 8+ hours a day.

I now work in a hotel, helping the housekeepers and doing sone cleaning again. It's tolerable man, very tolerable. Rather than have to be concerned about the stresses of other kinds of work, I'm free to daydream and have conversations with myself. I need that more than any kind of job promotion or raise.

Mop on, dudes.

Regrettably, it's true, standards have fallen in adult entertainment.
But "mop boy"?
Well you gotta feed the monkey.

I like to clean my rug with a brush, for the same reason. I have a really big rug at home so it takes some time to clean it. Perfect time to take a breath.
The other useful thing is baking without any machines, when the dough is so thick you think you cannot knead it anymore. What I call 'applied bodybuilding'.
