The Dude and Traffic
« on: September 05, 2013, 04:39:11 PM »
Many things pull us off our path to Dudeism enlightenment.  Currently, I am dealing with traffic.  I used to get so agitated that it took me 30 minutes to calm down after I got home.  Now I've taken some steps that so far are working great and I wanted to share them here.  By no cooincidence, I am heading out shortly.

1.  Before heading out I come here and read a bit.  This helps put my mind in the right frame of reference.

2.  I take back roads no matter where I go.  You miss so much of life taking 4 lane highways.  It takes longer but when I arrive I am myself which is perfect Dude form.

3.  I happen to have XM radio.  I listen to comedy.  Hard to get pulled off the path when you are laughing your ass off.

4.  You will run into Human Paraquats on the road.  I let it go knowing full well in the course of time that the man will deal with them in some fashion.  No need to let a 1 minute encounter ruin my Dude attitude.

Needless to say my lady friend and the little Lebowskis see the difference.

See ya on the road...

Very nice, Dude! Inspirational!

BTW, when I posted a few days about a Dudeist Survival Handbook, this is exactly the sort of thing I was thinking about -- concrete Dudeist solutions to everyday problems (or, step by step instructions for how to handle shit like a true dude).

See ya on the road...
The clouds above us come together and disperse;
The breeze in the courtyard departs and returns.
Life is like that, so why not relax?
Who can keep us from celebrating?

Nice approach VaDude. Agree it's not worth getting all fired up about road paraquats as they are far too plentiful and you'll lose your shit eventually.

"Is this a... what day is this???"

I learned a lesson a few years ago: Full of Zen and unleashed Walter after a Karate class at a sports centre.

I had been picked up by my ex and we were driving out of the car park en route to the airport for a holiday when I noticed that the guy in front of us had left a bag on top of his car...the bag fell off and a fucking bowling ball fell out!! Luckily it bounced away and missed my car, luckily my ex managed to brake and avoid a collision after he'd noticed and panic stopped!

I was still dressed in my Gi for a quick getaway...this and my black belt and my crazy shouting sorta made the bloke stop and take stock! He went a bit pale and said "sorry mate really sorry accidents happen!" I was still going apeshit at him when the guy from the car behind me comes up and says "did you drop this?"

It was my ex's handbag with money, passports and tickets inside it! She'd given it to me to hold as she was driving!!!

OOOPS!!!!

I ate a lot of humble pie that evening! ;)

Peace dudes
