Kevin Smith - the writer-director-Silent Bob of "Clerks." - is making a fortune by smoking blunts, swearing and doing whatever he pleases. His book is called "My Boring-Ass Life". And he has a beard. Dude.
A good man. And thorough.

I'll endorse this nomination.  His movie Dogma is totally an Apology for the Dude branch of Christianity.  I own and cherish my Buddy Christ, cuz it's totally the way I like to think of Jesus, man.

Beyond that, there's the simplicity of how he first made Clerks:

  • "Hey, any of you guys wanna help me make a movie?"
  • "Uh, dude, you have no money and you work at a convenience store."
  • "So what?  It'll be fun, and I'll let you be in it, and you can say lots of dirty words."

    • "Cool, I'm in."

Kevin Smith passes the Dude Litmus Test.  Kevin Smith abides.
