Dude, that sucks. Here in Germany people are a bit more conscious about trash and the separating begins at home with specifically marked bins. The separation is pretty simplistic, its basically 3 kinds:
1.Any trash that has a recycling label
2.Any trash that doesnt
3.Leftovers and anything thats organic
Each bin gets picked up by a different garbage truck.
When I was in the US it always bothered me that there was no trash separation concept whatsoever - seeing that, as you pointed out, the US is the biggest consumer. Also I couldn't believe all the good stuff Americans just throw away, including food. Ah well, I dont wanna start rambling either...
Anyway, thanks for doing the job youre doing. Most people may not care but I'm sure the planet does. And maybe The Big Dude?
