As I said in another thread I've red some books from him and I've found them interesting, with some, or a lot, of good points and "truths". What makes a bad impression is his lifestyle. At his place, while I agree with the likeliness of the female form, instead of buying a lot of cars and other stuff I would have bought an island or a mountain to create an earthly Dudervana. The fact that he had some legal issues has a "relative" importance. I mean Jesus has been crucifixed for his teachings. And if you go against the establishment you have legal issues.

I don't know much about Osho, but I've seen a few of his videos on youtube. The man seems to have a very Dudely presence. I'm not sure you can get much more laid back. Also some interesting ideas. Definitely something I might look into deeper in the near future.

Osho had many names and a beard, that was his only similarity to the Dude. The guy owned 93 Rolls Royces and a town named after himself, and was a narcissist. He promoted all kinds of dubious shit, and his entourage were actual fucking convicted terrorists who poisoned their neighbors. If anything, he was a self worshiping Nihilist, more like The Big Lebowski than the Dude. He was kicked out of 20 countries, he didn't fit in anywhere.

Totally undude, IMHO.

"One can smile and smile and be a villain." That Shakespeare dude.

nihilist bastards try to call him one of them because they fear people are gonna actually listen to him and follow his words. just look over his speeches and you'll understand. Just because some of his followers decided to go "terrorist!" doesn't mean he was a terrorist himself. The Dude also stole the big lebowski's rug, and almost stole the briefcase full of cash. So i don't think theres anything undude about owning rolls royce cars.

seriously, just because he called a spade a fucking spade, they tried to poison him with a radiated mattress.

That's just the stress talkin', dude.

93 Rollers is most undude.

A terrorist entourage, most undude. (However, Walter was quite the reactionary. The incident at the Silvertstein's was a kind of terrorism)

Radiated mattress? What's next, nuclear Bedbugs? Why not just spike his cocktail?

Even The Simpsons spoofed Osho, they called him "The Leader."

What was up with those drive by appearances? He couldn't get out and say Hi, how's it goin' eh, you look good in orange?

If it's false prophets you're after, why not just play the market?

its all perception. some call him a terrorist, some see sense in his words. XD

I happen to fall in the "Osho was a dude" camp, but I'm not going to stress over it.  He had problems.  Big ones! Big personalities often have big problems.  Hell, JK Krishnamurti used to wear Italian leather loafers and race around in a Maserati.  It's all in what you choose to focus on.  When Osho wasn't on a nitros and valium bender he was amazingly dude and lucid.  Sadly, in his later years he was often on a bender.

I'll be honest, I've only ever read "the path of meditation" and I loved it. I had no idea about any of this controversy before this post. It can be said that controversy surrounds almost every dude in history, but I'm thinking now that maybe Osho is one of those Dudes who talked Dude but didnt walk Dude.
