Hey Dudes.
I'm having kind of a problem here. See, I'm french (no, that's not the problem ;)), and I learned english language at school and on my own, and I think I speak it quite well. Still, I can't figure what "far out" means. I mean I've seen definitions of it on the web, but none seems to fit as an answer The Dude would give Marty when he tells him tomorrow's already the tenth.
I was thinking maybe you could help me understand it, cause this thing has been bugging me for some time.
Merci !
When the Dude tells Monty "far out," he is saying, "I don't know what that means, but thats still pretty cool." And when the Dude says, "Oh," he has figured out that the rent is due on the tenth. I hope this helps
It does help, thank you :)
Hey, since I'm on the subject, what is a Paraquat ?
That's a funny word, but I really don't get it's meaning hehe.
Thanks, again.
Human Paraquat = A mean and selfish person.
Paraquat is a herbicide used by the DEA to poison marijuana crops.
The "human paraquat" line is, as I understand it, the only improvised line in the film. When Jeff Bridges speaks the line, John Goodman is surprised and shoots a look at him and then looks to the directors, expecting a "Cut!" When it doesn't come, he snaps back into character and continues the scene. It's actually quite funny to watch.
Roro, I'm Italian and at the beginning I've had the same problem. My first posts seem to having been written by a cleft asshole. I've found invaluable the "Big Lebowski Lexicon" which you can find going to http://www.dudeism.com/funandgames.html
Enjoy!
Far out man, far fucking out

And I'd been thinking they were very small oranges all along!
