Post by: Hippo Dude on September 11, 2009, 06:47:47 PM
I enjoy listening to metal music. This type of music may not be dudely but i find comfort in this music, man.. I can abide to this... Does this still make me a dude?

Why not? You can be a Dude even if you like the fucking Eagles. Well, more or less.  8)
I even like a couple of songs of Metallica. But prefer the Iron Maiden though. Run to the hills N?1.

Yes, they usually throw rocks, even if I prefer the albums in the beginning of their career, from Killers to Fear of the Dark mainly. And Eddy is great. A+++!

What about Kiss?

...You cannot kill the metal...

I grew up a metal dude.  It is to me what Creedence tapes were to the '60's/'70's generation were.

Keep the Sabbath holy.  ;D

Death Metal
Black Metal
Thrash Metal
Post Rock
Drone
Prog Rock
Jazz
Electronica

It doesnt matter what genre your tunegae of choice slots into - as long as it fells right for you and you enjoy listening to it - especially in the bath with a nice spliff...

It's all good man. I listen to a lot of Folk, Classic Rock, Blues, Jazz, and Indie Pop myself. For me, as long as there's an authenticity to it I can get into it. I hate all these boozed up, drugged up, pretty faces who hire songwriters and musicians to make their music for them and then run their crappy voices through so many filters their unrecognizable. That's not what music is about. Their just feeding the monkey. They don't care about music, they just want a big, fat monkey. You get the same thing in rap and country. That's why for years I avoided that stuff. Now, I'm a bit wiser and I can recognize that their is good music in every genre, even the crap whiny shit.

It's all in the same league, dudes. Metal Evolved out of psychedelic hippie music way back in the sixties(porbably the original dude genre since it's mostly every dead bum hippie in venive's fave genre). Like Blue Cheer (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_Cheer) All is duder and duder is all. So it's perfectly understandable to be a dudeist metalhead.

Metal is fucking awesome man! I enjoy it a lot, but then again, I also enjoy Bob Dylan, Creedence, Gregorian choirs, classical music etc.
Also a lot of metalheads and rockers I know are quite dudeish, man!

I'm a brother shamus, I've been to many metal events where trouble has been minimal, whereas I've seen and heard the violent aftermath from many a dance music event, purveyers of said music align themselves with 60/70's hippies, couldn't be further away.
I think maybe with metal the aggression is in the music, dance music with it's repetitive sound surely would wind up anyone to an aggressive state, well it busts my friggin' aggets

Fuckin' a man, I myself have been to a lot of metal events as well, never seen any trouble man.
The music can be quite aggressive, It's true, but in the end, when you talk to the musicians, they just like takin' it easy. It's like, playing music is their substitute for bowling...

I dig metal most of all, man.  Even the one-dimensional, no-talent, headbanging bullshit with just three chords.  But mostly I enjoy the stuff with some thought and talent put into it.  Iron Maiden, Iced Earth, Electric Wizard and  The Sword have all broken through to touch my heart.  They are good men and thurrah.

The Sword... now there's a good one.  Especially the album Warp Riders.

Other noteworthy stuff in my book...

Black Sabbath
Rush
Melvins
Ozzy
Monster Magnet
Motorhead
Kyuss
Soundgarden
Tool
Judas Preist
Scorpions
ZZ Top

...just all kinds of stuff.  Mars Volta, Mr. Bungle.  Have fun, it's a rich genre and powerful stuff.

That's why I like symphonic metal. They sing about life and angels.
