Title: I prefer
Post by: BikerDude on September 01, 2009, 04:42:58 PM
Bourbon. I know it's slightly undude but man bourbon and a nice cigar is
about as good as it gets.
I like Booker's when I can get it. But any of the biggies will do. Jim, Jack.

Had to quit drinking though cause I ended up having a Malibu police episode.
Wife and I had a "disagreement" and I went out and started in on the hard stuff.
I remember dancing with a fat girl, then I woke up on the kitchen floor surrounded
by cops. Wife couldn't wake me so she called 911.
Not that this sort of thing happens much but it made me swear off the hard
stuff.
I do not treat objects like women as a rule.

Gin and Tonic for me. Tanqueray, preferably.
And a nice cigarette. DuMaurier Extra Light Regs when I could afford them. They cost like ten bucks a pack here now so i'm smoking some seven dollar a pack called "Number 7". Even the DuMaurier RIP OFFS (MacDonalds, yes, MacDonalds smokes) are too expensive now

I don't drink much nowadays. In fact, I drink so little, half a beer will buzz me. I used to be able to down a pitcher of draft and still be able to find my way to the In and Out.

Flor de Cana rum from Nicaragua, with a little Banana liqueur and some bubbly water.

Usually I'm into oat sodas. It's hard to get drunk as usually the bubbles stop me before going to the ground  8), and being beer a kind of food it's a healthy habit too. Guinness, when I find it, but not in bottles. The good quality with the cheaper price usually it's my everyday choice.

Tequila Jos? Cuervo Especial when I was younger, with salt and lemon.

Davidoff cigarettes, but as they are the most costly here usually I go for the cheaper ones. Found good to smoke cigarettes tobacco with pipe but I haven't found yet a way to have cold smoke, as I hate the hot one.
I know it's more Dudeish to roll your own cigarettes but I hate hot smoke. And buying filters is too costly.

I often spend 10 bucks for a single cigar.
I am really tryna quit drinking. It's the stress man.
Problems at work, marriage, on and on. It's tough to choke it back and abide.
It often sounds like a good idea to go out and raise some hell and then
the crazy shit starts and I'm chasing some fuckers around outside a bar with a fucking
crescent wrench. Then the cops etc etc. Bad scene man.
Nam. Very Undude.

Well, sometimes even the Dude is unDude. What I've found is that when I drink beer I'm calmer than when I drink wine. Probably is the different kind of alcohol. And usually I don't mix different kind of it. I stick to oat sodas as they really keep my mind limber. And calmer.  8)

Well, since God is a good man he created oat sodas too.  ;D
Or you could create a special recipe for people who can't mix 'em too. Who knows, it might be better than the original. Reinventing the wheel is unuseful but improving it is not.  8)

Caucasians are cool...

As are oat sodas.  But I usually partake of some whiskey, myself.  Whiskey liquers, even.  Wild Turkey American Honey.  Keeps the mind limber.

I'm a huge fan of salty drinks, so my main beverage of choice is the Chelada.  For those who don't know, it's oat soda mixed with clamato (itself being a mix of tomato and clam juice) with a splash of lime.  You can buy it canned at some places, or make it yourself.  It's a drink mix generally frowned upon by my friends, but I honestly can't get enough of it, man.

White Russian with Soya milk not half n' half, for the lactose intolerant?

Personally anything with alcohol in it does for me. Apart from Malibu (don’t like coconut).

Do particularly like the odd Caucasian, tastes like alcoholic milkshake to me.

my preference is for a large bong or water pipe,
i find the initial high from alcohol never lasts very long on me and i feel tired and depressed shortly afterwards. . . .

in comparison, i can smoke all day and night long with a good sense of well-being and get up in the morning feeling good ready to smoke another day into the past (http://i860.photobucket.com/albums/ab165/o0_martin_0o/smoking-clouds.gif)

So, uh, I come here and you've redecorated the whole place? Or at least reorganized it ... Careful man, there's a beverage-thread here! But I'm not a ... a ... fucking park ranger.

Give me my red wine and some beer and a pack of cigarettes and the occassional cigar and I'll be fine. "The older the wine, the gooder it is. And by that same token, the more expensive the wine, the gooder it also is" as someone said.

Out of necessity the other night, had to use chocolate milk (Sassy Cow chocolate milk, only the best there is) to finish the Russian. I'll warn you, you will love the Sassy Chocolate Russian, but because of the sweetness, they go down so easy they can get you in trouble.

I smoke cigars almost everytime I drink, which means almost daily.  Went a little bit overboard on cigars a few years back, and now I have  four coolers of sticks, as well as my desktop.
But back to the topic at hand.
I drink oat sodas every evening, while burning a J with friends, and then I finish the evening with a nice cigar.
I reserve the hard stuff for when I have a head cold, and need to clear my head.  Then it is bourbon.
Today I am snowed in, so I am sipping on some homade brandy.  After burning down a J of course.

I used to grow my own tobacco back when I smoked tobacco. I have a friend in Amish country who sent some cigarette tobacco seeds. He has cigar tobacco seeds as well. If any dude is interested just let me know. You can grow a tobacco plant in a 5 gal bucket if you like. He  also has videos on how to roll your own cigar. 8)

ah Rev Klaus and myself had a very interesting xmas on Hemingway's (absinthe and champagne, or in this case any old sparkling wine, and when that ran out absinthe and Jack) one time. It doesnt shrink your head like Mead does but it's still quite fun.

Well as an everyday beverage it's guinness and a rum chaser.
Caucasians are just once or twice a month because a bottle of smirnoff and a bottle of Kahlua only last 2 days and any more would exceed my budget.I take them with skimmed milk due to a cream intolerance.I once ordered a white russian in a pub.It was miniscule, crap and ?7.I'll stick to tesco's.
I prefer my own measures.
As I can no longer find the thread.I would like to join in the Pompey meet in March if parties involved would care to pm me.
Right now would be difficult to track info down as am approaching an advanced state of refreshment.

Due to my old man developing a gluten intolerance, I've laid off the oat sodas. This might change come summertime though. I still enjoy a scotch and soda every now and again, along with a caucasian when I want something sweet. Also share a cigar with my guy on the nights it's warm enough to go outside and smoke.

Most of my favorite cocktails are rum-based, with the exception of the Caucasian, which I dearly love.  Mojitos are incredible, but my usual place to get 'em stopped serving them recently, and I'm too darn lazy to make them myself at home (anything that requires more effort to mix than a highball is something I'd rather order out somewhere).

My absolute ideal Dudeist-friendly cocktail is a heretofore obscure little number called a Coppertone (so named because it tastes the way you always dreamed suntan lotion would from its smell).  Its components, combined in an Old Fashioned Glass with ice, are one-half Malibu Coconut Rum and one-half Cherry Cola (doesn't matter which brand, but I seem to get the best results from Cherry Pepsi).  The taste is delightfully tropical and "beachy", so nothing goes better with a balmy night, a lawn-chair, and some primo exotica on the stereo.

I also quite enjoy wine, but despite its reputation as a drink of effete dandies, the stuff usually kicks my butt if I have more than a glass-and-a-half in two hours.  I like my libationally-induced highs to go less like a rocketship and more like a balloon.

I of course have grown in love with the White Russian which I discovered from the Big Lebowski. During the summer I stick to the beer (nothin' more refreshing after a hard day's work or on a lazy relaxing one) its the nectar of the gods. The majority of the time however I drink wine which I just love with my 'nth' cigarette of the day  ;D. I'm also quite partial to gin and tonic or rum and cola's.

Most of my time with fine spirits is spent drinking 7&7s with a lemon and lime twist. At home, I just squirt some lemon juice in the drink instead of cutting up lemons and limes. This dude likes to be as low maintenance as possible when it comes to mixing booze with cutlery.

As for acting a fool, mostly I get more social, but I find I actually get MORE Dudely than I do when I'm sober. I'm admittedly a little neurotic about shit when I'm sober and think about shit I can't change or fix in the immediate, but when I've been drinking I just say "Fuck it, you can't worry about that shit".

I've also been known to drink Caesars, wine, screwdrivers, White Russians, and the occasional random shot. I don't smoke, but being a square in that department has afforded me a greater strength: As a 5' 120lb. female, I have the alcohol tolerance of a fucking linebacker.

Like dudes...I'm not much of a drinker...but if you ever have an occasion to make a big bowl of punch I got just the ticket.
Mix White Cranberry/Peach juice blend 1: 1 with Orange/Mango juice blend. Add as much Vodka, or what ever alcohol you like, to taste. IMO...Best punch ever!
It's actually so amazingly good without alcohol that you will find yourself chugging it. It's a case where the whole is greater than the sum of it's parts. Your kids will love it (without the alcohol of course!) too!

I'm confined to the oat soda's now.
The hard stuff has bad results.
The last time I drank bourbon to excess I got into a fight in the street with 2 guys, which was witnessed by the cops and then got a DUI as well as assault and disorderly (Both those got dropped) and then got shit canned from my job the next day.
What a wonderful night.
That was followed by 6 months of unemployment and fighting the bank to keep our house etc etc...
Needless to say I'm a reformed drinker of hard liquor.
But the bourbon still calls may name despite all that.
I am allowed a bottle for the holidays.
To be rationed out by the wife. Hey I can't complain.
I have an excellent paying job now and we kept our house.
I can at least keep my vises to a manageable level I guess.

I find it easy to exercise restraint when everything in my tiny bar is top-shelf or collectible. When I spring for something nice like Pappy's or if I manage to hunt down a Stagg, I can make a bottle last at least a year.

Cheap, smooth whiskey is just asking for trouble.
