Title: Satanic Dudeists
Post by: Astaroth Enfer on November 28, 2018, 10:56:20 PM
I'm rather curious if there are any other atheistic satanists here, I'm new to the forums and wanted to see if I could find some people like me.

I'm not, but I do have a couple logins to some satanic forums.

The term "atheistic satanists" seems to be in conflict with itself. I'm thinking that a belief in satan negates the atheist part just as the atheist part tends to negate the satanic part. But that's just, like, my opinion, man.

One of my hobbies is comparative religions. I agree with you. On the surface, it makes no sense to claim to be atheist and then start a religion named after the adversarial being in another religion. It's kind of like me starting the Church of Loki and saying we're not Norse or Asatru at all. Yeah, you have to be connected.

The Laveyan branch started off as supposedly atheistic, too. However, Lavey created rituals and prayers to Satan in his writings. I don't know about you, but I don't see the need in praying to a deity I don't believe in. The Satanic Temple (the one who sued the new Sabrina show) doesn't have those rituals. (I'm not 100% sure on that. I'll double check.)

From what I was told, Luciferians actually believe Satan is a conscious being. When they pray it's like how other theists pray to their deity/deities. Again, this seems to be subjective, as some say not even they do.

Generally, it's a confusing mix of what one believes and does. Regardless, they all support rebellion against Judeo-Christian values. They feel the Judaism and Christianity have outlawed normal human material desires and actions. My first inclination is that Satanism can really only work in certain countries and cultures. After all, if you're in China, Satanism means nothing, as they have nothing to base this "I can't believe they're worshipping the evil one" feeling on. Pretty much, Lavey and other Satanist churches need that shock value. If I started the Church of Kroni, who would have that feeling and who would even bother paying me any attention?

I have no immediate ill feelings toward Satanists, Luciferians, or any other religious person. To me, it's just like all other religions.

To me it's something that grabs peoples attention when I have a point to make and that's about the only real purpose it serves, otherwise it's basically just humanism with a dark aesthetic.

I do like the part about not ignoring animal instincts in humans. In my opinion, religions tend to want to suppress those instead of working with them.
