Title: Discord?
Post by: Masked Dude on May 25, 2018, 07:24:44 PM
I was playing around creating a Discord guild/server for dudes. I was writing a Discord bot and added a Big Lebowski quote test command. So as a test, I made a new server. I added emojis like Dude shadow (the "Abide" face), Walter, Donny, the dudely yin yang, bowling ball, etc.

Is this a worthwhile endeavor? I don't mind just playing around, but do you think anyone would be interested? I can't have a laptop up 24/7, so a fun bot isn't possible yet. (Unless someone has a Raspberry Pi just lying around.)

But... what do ya think?

I think I'm going to pass on this idea. I have a Discord server set up, so in case it ever gets any interest here, I'll share the link. I tried another Discord server that was supposed to be for Dudeists, but it seemed to be mainly for gamers. That and it's pretty rude. So I left. Can't be bothered with that kind of negative shit, dudes.

So I'm going on with things. Strikes and gutters, ups and downs. :)

No worries, man! I tried the Discord thing back when I used to review comics. It seems to me that unless you have a personal server, then the conversations get very overwhelming and bots run amok.

Yeah, the only ones I'm semi-active in are the ones for me and fellow artists. That one that was supposedly dudeist... man... not dudely at all. There was one I was a part of for a while that was overrun by bots and people who would break Discord rules. They even suspended the accounts of everyone on that server. Thankfully it was a throwaway account. So now I don't bother with them. We use them for sharing artwork and critiques, but we only share them when we stream on Twitch, etc.

You know what? Screw it, I'll go forward with this idea. Here's the link. It has a user limit of 50 users for this invite link. If more want to join, I'll make a new one. (I just don't want a thousand random people.)

Sorry about that. The forum software really mangles the url tag. This should work:

Discord's my primary form of communication so I say hell yeah to this. Let's get this going, dudes.

I should note that while there are a few dudes there, my Discord is unofficial.

Everyone is welcome, though.
