Dudes, I had a situation where my inner Walter was about to surface over a business deal (i.e., THOSE ARE FUCKING RULES!!), but I let my inner Dude come to the surface and I took er' easy.

Well done, sir. I almost matched you today. A client (who is, by the way, entirely without fault in the underlying case) was being a self-defeating, ignorant, and self-important turd. And that's cool but, in this case, his position was also compromising his own defense. I tried explaining reality. No avail. He raised facts that weren't facts and legal positions that weren't legal. I tried redirecting things back towards reality. He insisted on staying in the never-never land he had created. I almost said "well, fuck it, you're clearly the expert since you're the one being sued for malpractice" but I didn't. So that's a small moral victory. But, after he hijacked the conversation three or four more times I said we clearly had differing views on the matter and that I'd relay his concerns to another attorney who could, perhaps, get on the same page with him. So, I basically extricated myself from the situation. Shame, too, because I could have won that sumbitch via dispositive motion in sixty days. But, fuck it, let's go bowling.
