and that's cool, that's cool. A week in St.Thomas sounds great. An all inclusive resort on white sandy beaches and cold beverages while doing little more than abiding is exactly what I need. However...and this is a big one...I'm scared of flying. Well, not so much flying as falling. I don't like heights, I don't like to be off the ground very much and hurtling through the sky in an aluminum tube made with parts supplied by the lowest bidder terrifies me. It's a real conundrum, a real uhhh...kind of...uhhh, you know what I'm trying to say here, uhhh.
Maybe use a sleeping mask and some whale-songs or Credence or whatever you want to listen to while flying. A White Russian or two before take-off might also help. Other than that: just abide and say fuck it: that's your answer for everything.
They serve alcohol.
That can go a long way toward smoothing the turbulance.
Think of it as a flying limo.
Booze and movies.
that is the usual recipe. lots of booze and perhaps a valium each way. The problem is the anxiety leading up to the flight. I get very anxious leading up to it and when I am at the destination I get anxiety thinking about the flight home. I need to find a way to relieve the pre and post anxiety. We'll see...it's all a matter of mind over matter, I guess.
In addition to the foregoing advice, just recognize you're playing the odds. You're less likely to die in a plane crash than to be sodomized by a pack of rabid pandas. Well, fine, I made up that statistical comparison but you get the point. It ain't gonna happen. Go, have fun, and report back with details, man.
I've heard that you literally are as likely to die in a plane crash as you are to be mauled by 2 different Grizzly Bears on the same day.
Of course as we know, sometimes you do eat the bear and sometimes.....
That's not helping.
